About the Role

The Quality Control Manager is responsible for ensuring that all garments produced meet the required quality standards of buyers and the company. The role oversees inline, online, and final inspections, manages the QC team, and works closely with production, merchandising, and sampling units to maintain consistent quality across all stages.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Planning & Standards

  • Develop and implement quality control processes as per buyer standards (AQL, inspection levels).
  • Set quality benchmarks for fabrics, trims, cutting, stitching, finishing, and packing.
  • Ensure adherence to SOPs and quality manuals.

Fabric & Trims Quality

  • Oversee fabric inspection (4-point system) and ensure trims quality verification.
  • Approve fabric lots and trims before going into production.
  • Identify defects, analyze root causes, and coordinate corrective actions.

Production Quality Control

  • Manage inline and online quality inspections at each stage—cutting, sewing, washing, finishing.
  • Monitor daily production quality reports and highlight deviations.
  • Implement corrective and preventive actions (CAPA) to improve overall product quality.

Team Management

  • Supervise QC checkers, inline inspectors, and final inspection teams.
  • Train QC staff on inspection techniques, buyer requirements, and SOP adherence.
  • Conduct skill enhancement and quality awareness programs.

Buyer Communication & Audits

  • Coordinate with buyers/third-party inspectors for PP meetings, inline audits, and final inspections.
  • Prepare and share quality performance reports with merchandising and management.
  • Ensure smooth handling of buyer complaints and take corrective actions.

Final Inspection & Shipment

  • Ensure AQL level checks for final inspection.
  • Approve shipments only after meeting all quality standards.
  • Verify packing, labeling, measurement specs, and finishing quality before dispatch.

Continuous Improvement

  • Lead efforts to minimize rework, alter rates, and quality defects.
  • Analyze quality failures and maintain defect trend reports.
  • Implement quality-driven process improvements to increase right-first-time (RFT) production.

Skills & Competencies

  • Strong knowledge of garment construction, stitching operations, and finishing processes.
  • Good understanding of fabric types, trims, washing, dyeing, and printing.
  • Expertise in AQL, quality systems, and buyer standards.
  • Excellent communication and team management skills.
  • Problem-solving and root-cause analysis ability.
  • Proficient in MS Excel, tracking sheets, and quality reporting.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Degree/Diploma in Textile, Apparel, or Quality Management.
  • 5+ years of experience in garment manufacturing QC .
  • Experience with export buyers.
