Key Responsibilities:
- Inspect composite processes including plug and mould preparation, lay-up of glass fiber (GF) and carbon fiber (CF), resin application, curing, demoulding, machining, and finishing to ensure compliance with design and quality standards.
- Review Composite Lay-Up Drawings, Material Specifications, and Work Instructions to verify correct materials and processes are applied in manufacturing.
- Monitor lamination processes for critical parameters (resin ratio, curing cycles, temperature, pressure, vacuum integrity, etc.) and record results as per Quality Plans.
- Conduct dimensional inspections of moulds, plugs, and finished composite parts using measuring tools, templates, and gauges.
- Verify surface quality, structural integrity, bonding, and finishing of composite parts before handover to painting or assembly.
- Identify non-conformities, document them through NCRs, and coordinate with Production/Design for corrective and preventive actions.
- Perform in-process and final inspections on outsourced composite and machined components before acceptance.
- Support Root Cause Analysis (RCA) and prepare quality reports (8D, CAPA) for defects arising in composite processes or customer issues.
- Assist in qualification of new composite materials, suppliers, and processes to meet aerospace-grade requirements.
- Ensure calibration and proper use of inspection tools, curing ovens, and test equipment used in composite QC.
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to reduce defects, improve repeatability, and enhance production efficiency in composite manufacturing.
- Ensure compliance with ISO 9001, 14001, 45001, and aviation-related quality requirements across composite activities.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Materials Engineering or related technical field.
- 3–5 years of hands-on experience in composite manufacturing quality control (GF, CF, resin infusion, vacuum bagging, RTM, or prepreg processes preferred).
- Strong knowledge of composite materials, lay-up techniques, curing processes, and defect inspection methods (e.g., porosity, delamination, voids, surface defects).
- Familiarity with aerospace/aviation standards and regulatory requirements.
- Proficiency in Root Cause Analysis, CAPA, and reporting (8D, Ishikawa, etc.).
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to work closely with Production, Design, and Clients.
- Certifications in Six Sigma, NDT (Ultrasonic, Visual, etc.) or related composite inspection techniques would be advantageous.
