Job Summary:
This position will support Quality Assurance Engineering functions on Aerospace and Military Programs. Act as Quality Assurance representative for assigned programs. Ensure all products are manufactured, inspected and tested in compliance to requirements. The position reports to the Quality Manager.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Review and deploy specific quality requirements for customer programs. This includes purchase orders, drawings, and specifications within the context of an AS9100 registered QMS.
- Work with the Engineering to create manufacturing information to build product. Includes quality procedures and inspection instructions for specific customer requirements.
- Evaluate warranty material (RMA) for root cause and create corrective action.
- Review customer quality requirements and flow down to suppliers of purchased product.
- Create inspection plans for manufactured and purchased product.
- Apply problem solving skills for resolution of manufacturing defects.
- Evaluate manufacturing defect data for cause and corrective action.
- Assist in the planning and execution of training activities that are a result of Corrective Actions.
- Create content for training materials and conduct training in support of RCCA activities.
- Conduct internal and external (supplier) quality system audits.
- Perform continuous improvement activities using Six Sigma and Lean tools.
- Communicate with customers and suppliers as needed to ensure contract success.
- Manage corrective actions from all internal and external sources.
- Perform failure analysis on non-conformances.
- Evaluate returned material from the customer. (RMAs)
- Schedule and assist customer source inspection as required.
- Work with customer source and government representatives during audits and for final approval of product.
- Perform internal quality audits on processes and products.
- Lead the development and deployment of inspection plans with QC Inspection personnel.
- Work closely with inspection and engineering on technical issues.
- Travel to customer and supplier facilities. (less than 5%)
Requirements:
Qualifications, Knowledge and Experience
- Associate’s, Bachelor’s, or Advanced degree in Manufacturing, Business, or Engineering is preferred - Equivalent military or manufacturing experience (10+ years) considered in lieu of degree.
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing and Six Sigma methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems.
- Experience in AS9100 QMS manufacturing environment, with ESD and FOD control.
- Effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
- Lean Six Sigma (preferred)
- Ability to manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines.
- Quality Assurance experience with major Aerospace and DoD prime contractors, directly or as a sub-tier. Experience in space (satellite) work a plus.
- Evaluate warranty material (RMA) for root cause and create corrective action.
- Working knowledge of ESD, FOD, Counterfeit Material Control aerospace and defense standards.
- Working knowledge of TQM, APQP, Six Sigma and Lean Manufacturing practices.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate with all stakeholders.
- Negotiation/conflict management skills; demonstrated experience troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Computer proficiency—strong level in Microsoft Office.
- Demonstrated written and verbal skills to interact with people at all levels/functions inside/outside the organization.
- Proficiency in technical writing, documentation skills, and attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to multi-task, including effective project and time management.
