Quality Engineer II

WHY DO WE NEED YOU?

Join our Kansas City team as a Quality Engineer and play a key role in improving product quality and driving continuous improvement across operations and suppliers. You will use data, lead audits, and apply quality tools to solve problems, reduce defects, and enhance performance while partnering across teams and supporting a strong Quality Management System.


  • Assist in defining and developing quality program status indicators and performance measurements.
  • Provide trend analysis on quality issues and performance metrics.
  • Conduct audit processes internally and at suppliers, including planning, preparation, execution, reporting results, and remedial work plans.
  • Ensure QC requirements and QA tasks are completed before product is shipped.
  • Develop, implement and maintain procedures for inspections and testing in compliance with the Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Contribute to Quality Improvement Plans internally and with suppliers.
  • Investigate and address product non-conformances, working with relevant subject matter experts as needed.
  • Acquire and analyze data to facilitate process analysis and improvements. Use metrics, reporting and process control tools to track, analyze and problem solve.
  • Utilize statistical quality tools and techniques to lower total quality costs.
  • Coordinate deviation and non-conformance processes and ensure corrective and preventive actions address fundamental causes.
  • Provide QMS training and ensure appropriate competency levels are maintained.
  • Mentor QC Inspectors and quality technician.
  • Supports the development of disposition and corrective action implementation for defective returned materials
  • Assist in product reviews, process audits and validations to identify defects and errors
  • Ensure compliance to internal and external management systems.
  • Continuously improve knowledge of customer expectations, supplier relations, risk management and improvement, industry standards, business systems, and planning and quality tools.


IS THIS JOB FOR YOU?

Skills and Experience Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering preferred or equivalent quality experience
  • as a Quality Engineer in building products, automotive, food or plastics
  • 3 - 5 years as a Quality Engineer in building products, automotive, food or plastics
  • Demonstrable Root Cause Analysis, problem solving, and process improvement experience
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience in ISO compliant Quality Management System
  • Strong organization, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Strong communication and flexibility to work with both hourly and salary employees
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, PowerPoint, Excel)
Travel and Work Location:
  • Less than 10% travel domestically
  • Role based out of the CertainTeed Kansas City, KS facility
