DAVCO Technology, the North American leader in diesel fuel-heater/water separators and filter systems seeks a full-time Quality Manager.
OVERVIEW
The Quality Manager position will be responsible for overseeing the quality assurance and control processes within the organization. This role involves developing quality standards, conducting audits, and assuring adherence to ISO9001, IATF16949, ISO14000 as well as customer requirements. Additionally, the Quality Manager will be responsible for leading continuous improvement initiatives to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction. This position reports directly to the Director of Operations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Quality System Leadership
- Maintain and continuously improve the Quality Management System in alignment with ISO 9001, IATF 16949, ISO 14001, and customer-specific requirements.
- Ensure document control, change management, calibration, internal audits, and management reviews are executed with discipline and accuracy.
- Lead readiness for third‑party, customer, and regulatory audits, ensuring systemic closure of findings.
Customer Quality & Issue Resolution
- Serve as the primary point of contact for customer quality concerns, scorecards, and escalations.
- Lead containment, root cause analysis, and corrective actions using 8D, 5‑Why, fishbone, and FMEA updates.
- Ensure timely, accurate communication to customers, including data, reports, and verification of effectiveness.
Production Quality Assurance
- Oversee incoming inspection, in‑process checks, final inspection, and release processes to ensure product conformity.
- Implement and sustain layered process audits, error‑proofing, and control plan adherence.
- Partner with Operations to drive built‑in quality, reduce scrap, and eliminate repeat issues.
APQP, Launch, and Engineering Support
- Lead APQP deliverables, including PFMEA, control plans, MSA, capability studies, and PPAP submissions.
- Collaborate with Engineering on design reviews, process capability, and change management.
- Ensure new products and engineering changes meet customer and regulatory requirements before release.
Supplier Quality Management
- Manage supplier approval, audits, incoming quality, and performance improvement.
- Lead supplier containment, corrective actions, and risk mitigation for critical components.
- Partner with Supply Chain to improve supplier capability and reduce incoming defects.
Metrics, Reporting, and Governance
- Own quality KPIs including scrap, customer complaints, PPM, audit performance, first‑pass yield, and NMFR.
- Provide accurate, timely KPI data, trend analyses, and reports for Management Reviews and leadership decision‑making.
- Ensure quality data integrity across digital systems, dashboards, and workflow tools.
Leadership & Culture
- Build a high‑performance quality team with clear expectations, coaching, and accountability.
- Foster a culture of problem‑solving, transparency, and proactive risk identification.
- Develop competency in core tools across supervisors, engineers, and technicians.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s degree in Quality Management, Engineering, or a related field.
- 5+ years of quality leadership experience in automotive or high-reliability environments.
- Certification in ISO 9001, IATF 16949, and ISO 14001 (CQA, CQE, or equivalent), demonstrating strong command of integrated management system requirements and audit expectations.
- Strong command of APQP, PPAP, FMEA, MSA, SPC, and structured problem-solving.
- Experience leading audits, customer interactions, and cross-functional corrective actions.
- Strong computer skills (MS Office, ERP systems, customer portals, etc.).
- Great attention to detail and a result driven approach.
- Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis / statistical methods.
- Excellent communication (written and verbal), teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Requires the use of proper PPE, depending upon the area where working. The employee may occasionally be required to lift up to 35 pounds unassisted.
COMP PACKAGE
Position includes base salary, annual bonus eligibility, paid time-off plans, comprehensive benefit/insurance plan, annual merit increases.
