Job Summary
The Quantity Surveyor (QS) is responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of asphalt, road, infrastructure, and utilities projects. The role involves cost estimation, budgeting, cost control, measurement, valuation, and final accounts, ensuring projects are delivered within approved budgets and contractual requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare detailed cost estimates, budgets, and BOQs for asphalt, roadworks, infrastructure, and utilities projects.
- Monitor project costs, track variations, and control expenditures to ensure profitability.
- Prepare interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts.
- Evaluate and certify subcontractor invoices and payment applications.
- Take accurate quantity take-offs from drawings and specifications.
- Prepare and review BOQs for asphalt paving, earthworks, drainage, utilities, and associated infrastructure works.
- Verify quantities executed on site in coordination with site engineers.
- Administer contracts in line with FIDIC or other applicable contract conditions.
- Prepare, assess, and negotiate variations, claims, and counterclaims.
- Support preparation of Extension of Time (EOT) claims and cost impact analysis.
- Maintain proper contractual documentation and records.
- Assist in procurement of subcontractors and suppliers.
- Analyze quotations, prepare comparative statements, and recommend awards.
- Coordinate with procurement and site teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
- Coordinate with project managers, planning engineers, and site teams on cost and progress matters.
- Prepare monthly cost reports, cash flow forecasts, and commercial summaries for management.
- Identify potential risks and opportunities and propose mitigation measures.
- Ensure compliance with project specifications, contractual terms, and company procedures.
- Support audits and ensure accurate financial and commercial reporting.

- Asphalt works (base course, binder course, wearing course)
- Road construction and rehabilitation
- Utilities (stormwater, sewer, potable water, irrigation, electrical & telecom ducting)
- Earthworks, pavements, kerbs, and associated infrastructure works
Qualifications & Experience
- Bachelor’s Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
- Minimum 5–8 years of relevant experience in asphalt, road, and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of construction contracts (FIDIC preferred).
- Experience in utilities and infrastructure projects is mandatory.
Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and numerical skills.
- Proficiency in MS Excel and quantity surveying software.
- Excellent knowledge of cost control, estimation, and contract administration.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
