Job Summary

The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all costs related to building construction projects, from initial estimates through final account settlement. The role ensures that projects are completed within budget while maintaining quality and contractual compliance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare quantity take-offs, cost estimates, and BOQs (Bill of Quantities) based on drawings and specifications.
  • Review tender documents, contracts, and project specifications.
  • Prepare and evaluate subcontractor quotations and recommendations.
  • Monitor project costs, variations, and change orders.
  • Prepare interim valuations, progress claims, and final accounts.
  • Verify contractor and subcontractor invoices and payment certificates.
  • Track material quantities, wastage, and budget utilization.
  • Conduct site measurements and verify completed works.
  • Assist in procurement by coordinating with suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Support contract administration and ensure compliance with project terms.
  • Prepare cost reports, forecasts, and budget updates for management.
  • Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, and clients.
  • Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree / Diploma in Civil Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
  • Minimum 8-9 years of experience in building construction projects.
  • Strong knowledge of BOQ preparation, cost estimation, and contract administration.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Excel, and quantity surveying software.
  • Knowledge of FIDIC and local construction contract practices is preferred.
