Quantity Surveyor (Civil & MEP)

Role Summary

We are looking for a results-driven Quantity Surveyor with a Civil Engineering background (Mandatory) to oversee project costs and contracts. The candidate must be capable of handling both Civil works and MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) services to ensure budget compliance and project profitability.

Core Responsibilities:

• Estimation: Prepare Bill of Quantities (BOQs) and cost estimates for Civil and MEP projects.
• Perform quantity takeoffs (Concrete, Steel, Electrical, and Piping).
• Tendering: Manage vendor quotations, price negotiations, and bid comparisons.
• Billing: Prepare client billing (IPCs), client billing and verify subcontractor payments.
• Contracting: Manage variation claims, change orders, and final project closure.Ensure cost control and waste reduction on-site.
• Technical Knowledge Required : A Quantity Surveyor must know: Construction Drawings,Reading architectural drawings,Structural drawings,MEP/electrical drawings,Single-line diagrams (SLD),FIDIC basics.

Qualification Required

• Education: BE Civil Engg or B.Tech (Civil) or DAE (Civil) - Preference for Civil background
• A certification in Quantity Surveying is a significant plus.

Ideal Candidate Profile

• Experience: 3–5 years of relevant work exposure in Quantity Surveying.
• Capability: Strong ability to handle MEP projects alongside Civil works.
• Software Proficiency: MS Excel(Advanced), AutoCAD, Primavera and Estimation software (e.g., PlanSwift).
• Market Knowledge: Strong understanding of current market rates for electrical materials in Pakistan (e.g., copper prices, switchgear brands).
• Standard Forms: Familiarity with FIDIC or local PEC (Pakistan Engineering Council) contract standards.

• Integrity: High ethical standards when dealing with vendors and contractors.
• Communication: Fluent in Urdu and English; able to negotiate firmly but professionally with subcontractors.
• Resilience: Ability to handle the fast-paced nature of the Karachi construction industry and meet tight tender deadlines.
• Self-motivated with a results-driven approach
• Fast learner and passion for civil & electrical engineering
• Excellent knowledge of MS Office
• Proficiency in English
