Job Vacancy – Quantity Surveyor / Cost Estimation / Cost Control Engineer

Location: Qatar

We are a leading Contracting Company in Qatar seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Quantity Surveyor / Cost Estimation / Cost Control Engineer to join our dynamic team. The selected candidate will play a key role in preparing accurate cost estimates, managing project budgets, and ensuring financial control throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

1. Quantity Surveying Duties

• Prepare and manage Bills of Quantities (BOQ), cost estimates, and tender documentation.
• Conduct site visits to verify quantities, progress, and compliance with contracts.
• Prepare and review variation orders, claims, and contractual changes.
• Assess, certify, and negotiate subcontractor/supplier payments.
• Monitor project expenditures and ensure alignment with budgets.

2. Cost Estimation Duties

• Analyze tender documents, drawings, and specifications to understand project scope.
• Perform Quantity Take-Offs (QTO) using software (PlanSwift, Candy, CostX, AutoCAD).
• Prepare detailed cost breakdowns for labor, materials, equipment, and subcontracting.
• Request and evaluate supplier/subcontractor quotations; maintain updated cost databases.
• Prepare and compile technical and commercial bid proposals.
• Recommend value engineering solutions to reduce costs without affecting quality.

3. Cost Control Duties

• Develop baseline budgets using BOQs, estimates, and contracts.
• Track and monitor actual vs. planned costs, commitments, invoices, and variations.
• Use tools like Primavera P6, SAP, or ERP systems for monitoring and reporting.
• Prepare cost-to-complete (CTC) and cost-at-completion (CAC) forecasts.
• Develop and update cash flow forecasts and payment schedules.
• Provide weekly/monthly cost reports with variance analysis and recommendations.
• Support project managers with financial control, change management, and risk analysis.
• Ensure compliance with internal policies, external audits, and documentation requirements.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Civil/Architectural Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field.
• 10+ years of experience in Quantity Surveying, Cost Estimation, and Cost Control (construction/infrastructure projects).
• In-depth knowledge of Qatar Construction Specifications (QCS) and local market pricing.

Proficient in:

• Estimation tools: Candy, PlanSwift, CostX, AutoCAD
• Cost control tools: Primavera P6, Excel (Advanced), SAP/ERP
• Strong understanding of contracts, variation orders, and procurement cycles.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and reporting skills.
• Ability to manage multiple projects under tight deadlines.
• Must be based in Qatar with a transferable visa.
• UPDA Certification required.
