Radio Optimization Senior Engineer.Service Operation & Optimization

Job Purpose

Optimize the radio network to reach the optimum performance through standard guidelines in alignment with the department objectives.

Report To Position Name

Apply effective tuning measures to improve 2G/3G network KPIs including Call Failure Rate (CFR), Call Drop Rate (CDR), Handover Success Rate, Soft Handover Success Rate, Location Area update, Paging Success rate and CSSR and HSDPA/EDGE/GPRS KPI's to ensure competitive quality of service all over the network. Outline and provide network capacity studies for the required 2G/3G expansions ensuring network performance in alignment with marketing promotions and subscriber growth. Participate in trials for new products, features and projects to support the decision making process. Participate in clusters and major roads optimization campaigns to enhance company's competitive position. Participate in resolving customers' complaints to ensure customer satisfaction. Solve and correct radio network problems according to agreed timing and standards set, to detect and highlight radio network deficiencies and to some extent prevent future degradations. Apply frequency re-tuning and antenna optimization in coordination with Radio Planning team to enhance the network performance. Co-ordinate roles execution and checking, with the RF planning, Rollout teams, to ensure that new sites have acceptable performance. Prepare technical reports and conduct presentation related to the Section's activities, achievements and outstanding issues to highlight section progress and performance. Design and review regular drive test routes while performing field drive test measurement and analysis to ensure competitive quality of service all over the network. Provide coaching for optimization graduate trainees through In house trainings and knowledge sharing sessions

QUALIFICATIONS_ESSENTIAL

University Degree in Telecommunications Engineering

QUALIFICATIONS_DESIRABLE

Very good computer skills (Specially Ms Excel & Access). Good knowledge in MS Word, MS Excel, and MS Power Point. Good experience in drive test tools as TEMS. Very Good in Arabic & English, reading, writing, & oral

EXPERIENCE_ESSENTIAL

Minimum 2 to 3 years experience in RF Optimization.

EXPERIENCE_DESIRABLE

Good knowledge and experience in Visual Basic and Macro creation. Skill to develop software tools. Young, energetic, and physically fit. Good negotiation skills.

Experience in all RF functions (planning, optimization, capacity planning, and indoor design). Good experience in in-building design. Previous experience with local mobile operator.

CERTIFICATIONS_ESSENTIAL

GSM system overview training course (GSM, GPRS, EDGE, & UMTS). Advanced 2G & 3G optimization and dimensioning training course. Soft skills training courses (time management, communication skills, presentation skills, & technical writing). Parameter tuning and system features training course. Desirable: Advanced parameter tuning and system features training course. HSPA techniques training course
