Job Description

A radiographer, also known as a radiologic technologist, is a pivotal healthcare professional specializing in the operation of medical imaging equipment to facilitate the diagnosis and treatment of patients. These specialists are skilled in using various imaging modalities, including X-rays, CT scans, MRI, and more, to capture detailed images of the body's internal structures. Radiographers work closely with radiologists and other healthcare providers to ensure accurate interpretation of images, contributing significantly to patient care. This role demands a strong understanding of anatomy, safe imaging practices, and the ability to interact compassionately with patients. Responsibilities
  • Operate imaging equipment to produce high-quality diagnostic images for interpretation.
  • Ensure patient safety by adhering to radiation protection protocols at all times.
  • Accurately position patients and adjust imaging equipment to capture optimal views.
  • Collaborate with radiologists to review and interpret diagnostic images as needed.
  • Maintain accurate patient records and imaging data in compliance with legal requirements.
  • Provide clear instructions to patients and address any questions or concerns they may have.
  • Calibrate and perform routine maintenance checks on imaging equipment regularly.
  • Stay updated on advancements in radiographic technology and best practices in the field.
  • Assist in scheduling patient appointments and managing the imaging department workflow.
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the imaging area to maintain a safe environment.
  • Participate in quality assurance activities to ensure accuracy and reliability of imaging services.
  • Train and mentor new radiographers and radiology students when necessary.
Requirements
  • Associate or Bachelor's degree in Radiologic Technology or a related field.
  • Certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) is preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of human anatomy and medical imaging techniques.
  • Ability to operate and troubleshoot various radiographic imaging equipment effectively.
  • Strong communication skills for interacting with patients and healthcare colleagues.
  • Commitment to maintaining confidentiality and adhering to healthcare regulations.
  • Willingness to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts.
