Under immediate supervision, administers nursing care to patients in his/her department; implements hospital policies, rules and regulations, participate in training research. Assists the radiologist in management of any reaction to contrast media. Assists the radiologist in any special procedure in Radiology i.e. conventional angiography/fluoroscopy, CT scan etc.
KEY ACTIVITIESMonitors and assess patient condition.
Prepares patient for diagnostic procedures. For inpatients, the ward nurse should also be informed about the preparation of the patient in a certain procedure.
Prepares/administers medication and treatment as indicated within the scope of nursing practice. However, nurses are allowed to give intravenous contrast media and medication to any patient under the supervision of Radiologist.
In case of emergency, a radiology nurse should be present and must participate in the code team in accordance with the policy and standard operating procedure of the institution.
Ensures that an informed consent is signed by the patient or the nearest relative before any diagnostic procedure is started.
Maintains clean and safe environment.
Prepares/accomplish records on patient's diagnostic procedures, condition and progress.
Identifies and sends patient's specimen and other other materials for examination to proper department.
Gives proper endorsement to the ward nurse.
Provides health teachings to patients and relatives particularly before and after procedure.
Accomplishment reports of all procedure medico-legal and unusual incidents through proper channels promptly.
Coordinate with different support service through proper channels.
Maintaining the availability and validity of all medications necessary for any diagnostic procedure.
Checking all the emergency and crash cart medication.
Attending with female patient for any type of examination when male doctor is involved and in no circumstances the nurse should leave female patient alone with male doctor, and if required she should arrange for another nurse or one of the patient's relatives to attend upon the agreement of Doctor involved.
Comply with the standards laid down by the Joint commission of Accreditation on Healthcare Organization and perform the duties necessary to support and achieve accreditation.
Report any occurrence not consistent with the operation of the hospital or standard of service for patients, employees or visitors and situations which put patients, staff or visitors at risk for injury or other harm.
Implements appropriate policies and procedures to achieve the
Hospital?s goals and objectives in pursuit of Standards of Care, Quality/Performance Improvement.
Perform other applicable tasks and duties assigned within the realm of his/her knowledge, skills and abilities.
Coordinates with CSSD on all re-sterilized supplies used in Angio Room and use rotated stocked supply.
Orders angiographic and medical supply items are required.
Responsible for monthly statistics such as records of patients, stocks and materials for angiogram.
Prepare sterile instruments and equipment ready for the procedure.
Confirms with the patient and clinical radiologist the current procedure, site and side of the intervention.
Skin preparation and draping under sterile aseptic technique.
Keeps an accurate account of catheters, wires, blades collected during the procedure and make sure that drugs in syringes are labeled appropriately and are in date.
Assist ultrasound section during free time.
Administer (under the direction and supervision of the radiologist) oral, rectal and parenteral contrast media, including intravenous contrast media.
Fully aware and actively implement the departmental policies and procedures, and JCI, ISO
Data collection for the department and to measure the performance of the function, process, and outcome. Whenever required, conducts analysis and interpretation of data/information collected.
Participate in hospital Safety Management & Risk Management Programs. Actively reports incidents in the system and whenever needed, participates in incident review, and root cause analysis.
Responsible to participate in patient and family education to help patients and families to better understand and participate in their care and make well informed care decisions.
A minimum of two (2) years working experience in a hospital.
Experience in Radiology Department.
Certificate Diploma or Bachelor of Science in Nursing evaluated and approved by the Ministry of Health in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
Required Skills
Knowledge Of Spoken Arabic.
