We are now seeking a passionate and mission-minded team member with a heart for Women and Children in crisis to join our Livermore Campus as a Receptionist. This is more than a job, it's a calling.

The Ministry:

Shepherd's Gate is a Christ-centered, comprehensive, long-term, residential program for women and children who've experienced trauma including domestic violence, addiction, sex trafficking, and homelessness. For over 40 years, we have walked alongside women and their children on their journey toward healing providing safety, essential resources, encouragement, structure, and unwavering support. For as long as we've been in existence, Shepherd's Gate has been a safe refuge to over 15,000 women and children - work made possible solely through the generous support of our donors and the love of Jesus Christ. We have well-respected staff who change lives everyday through the work they do.

About the position:

The Receptionist's primary responsibility is to support the ministry's administrative functions. The Receptionist is often the first point of contact for the public, donors, and prospective residents. They must exude professionalism, compassion, and attention to detail while handling a range of duties and interruptions throughout the workday. The Receptionist will support the Office and Facilities Coordinator.

  • Answer phones, monitor general voice mailbox, direct calls and messages to the appropriate person, or answer questions and provide resources.
  • Greet and determine appropriate outcomes for every campus visitor, directing walk-ins to the appropriate staff or resources. This could include visitors, donors, volunteers, vendors, and individuals in acute crisis and emergency response personnel.
  • Assist donors with receiving donations, electronic receipting, and recognizing social media opportunities.
  • Receive incoming packages, mail, and donations and move them to the appropriate locations as needed.
  • Maintain organization, supplies, and cleanliness of the main office, kitchen area, and restrooms.
  • Perform clerical duties; maintain documents, spreadsheet reports, and office calendars using (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Outlook, SharePoint, and Salesforce).
  • Assist with staff events and meetings.

  • Education or experience working in an office setting is required. Please send a cover letter if you have more relevant experience not shown on your resume.
  • Ability to interact effectively in a supportive manner with all personnel of all backgrounds under some stressful circumstances.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills, and the ability to multitask and follow through until tasks are completed.
  • Ability to write business correspondence, reports, and applications. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups and individuals.
  • Must be 18 years or older.
  • Must be able to lift up to 30lbs.
  • Must be able to meet the physical demands of the job.
  • Drive as needed.
  • Must have a current California Driver?s license (min 3 yrs.), clean DMV report, and be able to drive Shepherd?s Gate?s vehicles.
  • Demonstrate a committed Christian faith.
  • Must pass a background investigation.
  • Schedule Monday ? Thursday- Occasionally working Fridays or extra hours as needed.

Benefits:

The salary is $19.00 -$20.00 an hour.
