This position is responsible for the day-to-day handling of open records. This position performs a variety of clerical and administrative work in support of law enforcement activities; operates the Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) data information system.
Job Responsibilities:
Education and Experience:
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, preferably supplemented with two years of college in law enforcement, criminal justice, or paralegal studies; two (2) years of related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Licenses or Certifications:
Requires a valid State of Georgia driver's license and a satisfactory motor vehicle record (MVR). Requires a valid Notary Public Commission from the State of Georgia (or be able to attain one once hired) and a Georgia Crime Information Center (GCIC) certification. A National Crime Information Center (NCIC) entry-level certification is preferred.
Special Requirements:
Must be 18 years or older at the time of employment; pass a background check and have no felony convictions or disqualifying criminal histories within the past seven years; and must be able to read and write English. Bilingual capabilities preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Physical Demands:
The work is light work and requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Additionally, the following physical abilities are required: balancing, climbing, crouching, feeling, manual dexterity, grasping, handling, hearing, kneeling, lifting, mental acuity, pulling, pushing, reaching, repetitive motion, speaking, standing, stooping, talking, visual acuity, and walking.
Work Environment:
The noise level in the work environment is usually quiet to moderately noisy. Work requires being available for assigned shifts including evenings and weekends as well as for on-call status when scheduled.
