About 19th Judicial District Court

The Nineteenth Judicial District Court is one of Louisiana’s 43 judicial districts and has original jurisdiction of all civil and criminal matters in East Baton Rouge Parish. There are fifteen elected judges (Division A through Division O) in the 19th JDC and four appointed commissioners.

About the role

Under the general direction of Judge William Jorden, the Recovery Court Coordinator is responsible for the overall management and daily operations of the 19th JDC Recovery Court. The position serves as the primary liaison between the court, treatment providers, probation/parole, attorneys, law enforcement and community agencies. The Recovery Court Coordinator ensures participants are monitored, supported, and held accountable, while aligning program operators with evidence base practices and applicable state and federal guidelines.

Location & commitments

· Office of the Judicial Administrator, 19th Judicial District Court

· Full-time with a 35-hour work week

· Monday through Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

· On-site in Baton Rouge, Louisiana

· Must be capable of regular and predictable attendance at a specified location in order to perform assigned responsibilities.

Administrative Responsibilities

  • Manage daily operations of the Recovery Court Program
  • Coordinate court staffing, status, hearings, and team meetings
  • Screen candidates referred to Recovery Court using evidence-based assessment tools.
  • Report findings from the screening assessment to the team and referring attorney
  • Promote and adhere to the workplace values of accountability, commitment, teamwork and training to help enrich lives beyond expectation.

In Collaboration with the Judicial Administrator

  • Maintain program policies, procedures, and participant handbook in line with best practices
  • Prepare monthly program information to designated stakeholders
  • Prepare a comprehensive proposal for the annual budget, review and analyze monthly invoices
  • Manage the preparation, execution and oversight of contractual agreements to ensure compliance with program requirements and funding guidelines

Treatment Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate an understanding of addiction disorders, mental health diagnosis, dual diagnosis, pharmacology, and MAT services.
  • Coordinate treatment services for the candidates coming into the program
  • Review clinical documentation (e.g., assessments, discharge summaries) and flag noncompliance
  • Collaborate with treatment providers to adjust treatment plans based on participant progress and needs
  • Serve as liaison between Recovery Court, treatment providers, probation officers, and case managers
  • Communicate treatment updates and concerns to judicial staff and attorneys
  • Maintain accurate electronic records of treatment attendance, engagement, and outcomes
  • Prepare clinical reports for court hearings, team meetings, and grant compliance
  • Meet with participants to process the severe consequences of behaviors
  • Ensure documentation meets HIPAA and confidentiality standards
  • Promote culturally responsive and trauma-informed care across all treatment interactions
  • Collaborate with providers to ensure gender-responsive programming and inclusive practices
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to strategic initiatives
  • Foster a collaborative, empathetic work environment that values accountability and continuous improvement
  • Perform other related duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Bachelor’s degree in social work, criminal justice, court administration, behavioral health, or substance abuse. 3 or more years of experience in criminal justice, court administration or a combination of both

Desirable Qualifications

  • Education and Experience: Master’s degree in social work, criminal justice, court administration, behavioral health  Certifications/Licenses/Registrations: LMSW, RAC-Mental Health/Substance Abuse, Certified MRT Facilitator, Clinical Supervision

Salary

Starting at $70,000 depending upon qualifications and experience
