Key Responsibilities

  • Operations Management: Oversee the day-to-day running of the club, ensuring smooth service and a high-quality experience for all users. This includes managing membership records, bookings, and general administration.
  • Program and Event Planning: Plan, organize, and promote a variety of sports programs, events, competitions, and classes that cater to diverse age groups and fitness levels.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise coaches, volunteers, and support staff. This includes monitoring performance, providing feedback, and ensuring staff have necessary qualifications (e.g., CPR/First Aid certification).
  • Facility and Equipment Management: Ensure all areas, including sports halls, gyms, pools, and locker rooms, are kept clean, organized, and in good condition. This involves managing maintenance programs, inspecting equipment, and coordinating repairs or replacements.
  • Health and Safety Compliance: Uphold strict adherence to all health, safety, and hygiene regulations. This is a core responsibility, ensuring a safe and accessible environment for all participants.
  • Financial Management: Manage budgets, control expenditure, handle till management and cashing up procedures, and work to generate revenue (e.g., through memberships, events, and rentals).
  • Customer Service and Community Engagement: Provide excellent customer service, handle inquiries and complaints promptly, and work with outside groups and community members to encourage participation and build positive relationships.
  • Marketing and Promotion: Promote the club's facilities and programs through various marketing and outreach efforts to attract new members and ensure financial viability.

Essential Skills and Qualifications

  • Leadership and Management Skills: The ability to motivate and guide a team effectively and make decisive actions.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong planning, time management, and multitasking abilities to oversee multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills for interacting with staff, members, vendors, and the public.
  • Problem-Solving Abilities: The capacity to anticipate potential issues, resolve conflicts, and adapt to changing situations calmly and efficiently.
  • Relevant Knowledge: A strong understanding of the sports and leisure industry, including knowledge of rules, safety standards, and current trends.
  • Education/Experience: While some roles may only require a high school diploma and experience, a bachelor's degree in Sports Management, Recreation Management, or Physical Education is often preferred or required for higher-level positions.
  • Flexibility: A willingness to work varied hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays, as is typical in the recreation industry.
