Title: Recreation Supervisor (Full Time)
Salary: $45,204/yearly ($1,738.64 bi-weekly) + Excellent benefits
Additional compensation for Master’s Degree and/or active Certified Parks & Recreation Professional
Position Summary
Leads the planning, budgeting, promotion, delivery, and evaluation of a portfolio of recreation programs and community events for a community of 24,000+. Oversees part-time staff and contracted instructors, ensures high-quality participant experiences, and continuously improves offerings through data-driven decisions. Requires some evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities
- Design and implement recreational programs including arts & crafts, summer camps, wellness classes, seasonal programs, excursions, and community workshops.
- Plan and coordinate community events.
- Partner with schools, local organizations, and vendors to expand and enhance program offerings.
- Manage scheduling, supplies, staffing, permits, and vendor relations for assigned programs and events.
- Strive to ensure that all programs and events are welcoming, inclusive, and accessible to the community.
- Promote programs and events through print materials, digital campaigns, and social media outreach.
- Prepare and monitor budgets, track program-related expenses, and meet cost-recovery goals.
- Recruit, train, schedule, and supervise part-time and seasonal staff and volunteers.
- Collect and analyze participation data and community feedback to guide program improvements.
- Deliver excellent customer service to program participants and the public.
Essential Functions
- Direct assigned part-time personnel, including interviewing, hiring, training, scheduling, providing corrective instruction, and recommending terminations.
- Assist with scheduling, planning, coordinating, and evaluating recreation programs and events.
- Schedule and coordinate use of facilities.
- Prepare recreation program budgets.
- Promote recreation programs and events through brochures, flyers, and media releases.
Specific Duties
- Compose and prepare correspondence, notices, and responses to inquiries.
- Provide customer service at the office counter and by phone
- Assist with the creation of the seasonal program and events guide.
- Assist with department events throughout the year
- Perform related duties as assigned.
Success Metrics (examples)
- Meet or exceed approved cost-recovery goal for assigned areas.
- On-time delivery of program guides, marketing assets, and staff schedules.

Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Parks & Recreation, Leisure Services, or related field.
- Working knowledge of recreation program and events management.
- Ability to supervise and direct part-time personnel.
- Strong written and oral communication skills, including public speaking.
- Ability to prepare reports and operate office equipment (computer, printer, calculator, phone).
- Ability to follow instructions, work independently and as part of a team, and handle multiple assignments under time pressures.
Preferred Qualifications
- 1–3 years’ supervisory experience in special events and/or recreation programming.
- Experience managing volunteers, vendors, and community sponsors.
- Experience with RecTrac (or comparable recreation software).
Work Schedule
Full-time, exempt. Core office hours with regular evening/weekend assignments during programs and events. Flex scheduling may be used to accommodate event demands in coordination with the Director.
