Description of Work

This position serves as an NC Department of Adult Correction (NC DAC) Regional Recruiter (Agency HR Consultant I), responsible for planning and executing recruitment initiatives for certified vacancies across an assigned region or specialty area. The role sources qualified candidates, partners with agency leadership and hiring teams, and coordinates recruitment events, candidate engagement, and reporting. It supports hiring for roles such as Correctional Officers, Probation/Parole Officers, administrative positions, trades, engineering, and other needed jobs. The position reports directly to the Recruitment Supervisor/Lead for training and specialized recruitment needs, especially for hard‑to‑fill roles.

Additional responsibilities include:
  • Building relationships with colleges, universities, and professional organizations to support recruitment efforts and event planning.
  • Collecting and sharing feedback with Central HR on recruitment and retention challenges and successes.
  • Attending and participating in NC DAC career events, hiring events, community job fairs, and networking opportunities.
  • Presenting to senior college students and classes about career opportunities within NC DAC.
  • Creating presentations and maintaining spreadsheets for tracking applicants and positions.
  • Using advertising, marketing, social media, and professional associations to promote positions.
  • Communicating effectively with applicants, stakeholders, and leadership, both in writing and in presentations.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities/Management Preferences

Salary Grade Range: $48,222- $84,388

Must have a valid driver's license.

Field assignments and geographic coverage within the Region will be established based on the selected candidate’s primary residence. Preference will be given to candidates residing in, or near, one of the following counties: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, Sampson.

Candidates now meet the minimum qualifications of a position if they meet the minimum education and experience listed on the vacancy announcement. The Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)/ Management Preferences are not required. Applicants who possess the following skills are preferred:

  • Experience planning and implementing strategic field recruitment initiatives.

  • Experience using social media tools and electronic platforms in the recruitment process.

  • Experience candidate sourcing and/or sourcing candidates through various web-based HR/Recruitment platforms.

  • Experience recruiting applicants for specific job classifications, such as Correctional Officers, Probation/Parole Officers, and Health Care Services positions.

  • Experience conducting virtual job fairs or other similar virtual recruitment events.

  • Bilingual is a plus!

Travel Requirements

  • Travel will be required with some overnight stays, additionally, overtime on evenings and weekends may occur.

  • Regional Travel maybe upwards of 70-80% on average.

  • A State Vehicle will be provided for approved travel and business needs, in addition to other tools necessary to fulfill the expectations of the position such as a state vehicle, state laptop, state cell phone, printer, gas (WEX) card, recruiting materials and displays, etc.

  • This position will operate as field-based regional positions but will be responsible primarily for in-person recruitment activities for statewide recruitment as well as region specifics to counties including but not limited to: Bladen, Brunswick, Columbus, New Hanover, Onslow, Pender, Robeson, Sampson and possible other surrounding counties. Ideal candidates should reside in or nearby one of the counties listed above.
