Description
The Regional Safety & Health Manager will work with the Global Practice Manager, Corporate Safety, Regional Office Manager and other Regional Safety Managers to provide leadership, direction and ensure compliance with Burns & McDonnell's programs and policies on all Safety and Health matters for assigned region.
- Propose and manage corporate and project Safety & Health initiatives in order to ensure a safe, healthy, and incident-free workplace.
- Manage safety oversight for engineering, architecture, construction and other projects.
- Develop and implement safety programs and policies consistent with Burns & McDonnell's corporate standards.
- Manage the Task Safety Observation initiative.
- Manage the process of safety audits, site safety inspections and work observations including project owner and subcontractors.
- Develop and perform site safety orientations.
- Review and present in project site safety meetings.
- Analyze and report monthly safety statistics.
- Provide input to the safety section of monthly progress reports.
- Interpret and enforce OSHA, EPA, and DOT regulations.
- Oversee health and safety training including HAZWOPER and 10-hour OSHA Construction Safety Training.
- Perform incident investigations, generate appropriate reports and provide necessary follow-up.
- Analyze completed incident investigations to identify causes and develop and implement corrective actions.
- Ensure implementation of and compliance with Burns & McDonnell Safety Program.
- Recommend and develop safety training topics.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Complies with all policies and standards.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Health, Safety, Engineering, or Construction Management and 7 years of experience in a construction field environment
- Applicable experience may be substituted for the degree requirement.
- Experience must include field experience on transmission, energy, or heavy industrial construction projects.
- Expert knowledge of Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Department of Transportation (DOT) and other relevant regulations and construction safety standards.
- This position requires driving to various locations

- Excellent oral and written communication skills.

- Ability to clearly and effectively present complex information to all levels of employees, management, and clients.
- Ability to thoughtfully and positively influence, lead, and manage change.
- Expert user of Microsoft office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
- Valid driver's license required.
- CHST, CSP or other credentials preferred.
- Ability to obtain 10-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course.
- Ability to obtain 30-hour Construction Outreach Safety Training Course.
