Position Overview:
The Regional Safety Manager is responsible for ensuring that workplaces and job sites comply with safety regulations, identifying potential hazards, and implementing policies and practices to promote a safe working environment. This role often involves working with all branches and service lines within the region to ensure compliance & safety.
Responsibilities:

Leads and manages regional safety program to develop the desired safety culture and achieve safety objectives

Directly collaborate with regional leadership and Branch Managers with a goal of “0” incidents

Assess effectiveness of safety program activities, policies, and procedures, and work with the UES Corporate Safety Team to implement changes to improve results and achieve objectives

Lead, manage, and organize Regional Safety Committees ensuring collaboration with all appropriate stakeholders and with the goal of continuous process improvement and best practice communication

Assist with integration of Safety policies and procedures with all current and future acquisitions

Report and track all work-related injuries including but not limited to safety investigations and documentation

Establish emergency response plans and training programs

Provide safety training to employees on topics such as equipment use, hazard identification, and emergency protocols

Work with the Human Resources team to develop and distribute best in class safety training (including orientation), with continuous improvements

Review and thoroughly understand UES’ current Employee Safety Manual, while recommending needed updates and/or changes in policy or procedure

Review and thoroughly understand OSHA construction safety practices relevant to UES and apply Best Practices to the operations of the company

Proactively research changes in OSHA policies/procedures and implement such changes effectively and efficiently throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region

Work with Corporate Safety Team to Maintain and update OSHA 300 logs for the region

Lead investigations of incidents, near misses, and complaints regarding unsafe or unhealthful working conditions or practices and communicate findings with Senior Leadership

Maintain and update 3rd party vendor safety reporting systems to ensure project compliance

Provide up to date safety documentation as requested by Regional Leaders, Branch Managers, Department Managers, and Marketing Team specific to projects

Attend required safety meetings for contractors and/or clients as requested

Work with Site Safety Representatives to ensure compliance

Host virtual Monthly Safety Toolbox Training for the region

Maintain Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) inventory, training, and distribution

Work closely with Branch Radiation Safety Officers (RSO) in the event of an accident involving Nuclear Moisture Density GaugesMonitor field and facility operations to ensure compliance with company safety policies, OSHA standards, and other applicable regulations.

Run the Respiratory Physical Program for the environmental department
