Registered Dental Assistant

Fishtown Dentistry is a privately owned, community based dental practice that is dedicated to our patients and neighbors. We strive to create a trusting relationship with our patients in a comfortable environment. We place an emphasis on patient education and prevention.

Our growing practice is seeking to add an experienced dental assistant to join our team. We are looking for someone who is detail-oriented, possesses strong customer service and interpersonal skills, as well as someone who can work as part of a team.

The ideal candidate will provide exceptional chair-side assistance, ensure infection control protocols are followed, and support the delivery of high-quality dental care. This role offers an opportunity to work in a collaborative environment utilizing advanced dental technology and maintaining compliance with HIPAA regulations. Prior experience with EMR systems such Dentrix is highly valued, along with a strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy, and medical documentation. The position is essential in ensuring a smooth patient experience from check-in to treatment completion.

Responsibilities and skills

  • Assist dentists during various procedures including general restorative dentistry procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms with necessary instruments and materials, maintaining aseptic technique and infection control standards.
  • Take digital X-rays ensuring proper positioning and safety protocols.
  • Record vital signs and medical history accurately within electronic health records (EMR) systems such as Dentrix.
  • Skilled in taking intraoral scans such as Trios (3Shape) independentaly is highly valued.
  • Manage patient records in compliance with HIPAA regulations, ensuring confidentiality and accuracy of medical documentation.
  • Provide chair-side assistance using four-handed dentistry techniques to enhance efficiency during procedures.
  • Educate patients on post-treatment care, dental terminology, and preventive practices tailored to individual needs.
  • Support the dental receptionist duties as needed, including scheduling appointments and managing patient flow and sending followup correspondence to patients and referrals.
  • Maintain inventory of dental supplies and sterilize instruments according to infection control standards.
  • Stay current with developments in dental technology such as medical imaging tools like intraoal cameras, scanners and digital radiography.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a team environment supporting both clinical and administrative functions.
