<Duties>
- Assist dentists chairside during a variety of procedures including restorations, extractions, root canals, and prosthetic placements using four-handed dentistry techniques.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments, setting up necessary supplies, and maintaining aseptic techniques to ensure a safe environment.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), including digital imaging and 3D scans, while adhering to HIPAA regulations for patient privacy.
- Record accurate medical and dental histories, vital signs, and medical documentation using EMR systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix.
- Manage patient flow by greeting patients as a dental receptionist, scheduling appointments, updating medical records, and ensuring smooth clinic operations.
- Educate patients on oral health care instructions and post-treatment care to promote ongoing dental wellness.
- Maintain infection control protocols and adhere to OSHA standards to ensure the safety of staff and patients alike.
<Skills>
- Proficiency with electronic medical record (EMR) systems such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix; familiarity with Epic is a plus.
- Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and aseptic techniques.
- Experience with dental assisting procedures including chairside assisting across various specialties like pediatric dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and general dentistry.
- Ability to operate dental imaging equipment including X-ray machines and 3D scanners while maintaining safety standards.
- Excellent communication skills for interacting with patients of all ages, especially pediatrics; capable of explaining procedures clearly and compassionately.
- Knowledge of medical terminology and medical coding for accurate documentation within medical records.
- Familiarity with HIPAA compliance requirements to safeguard patient information at all times.
