Duties
- Assist the dentist during a variety of treatment procedures including general dentistry, prosthodontics, endodontics, and pediatric dentistry.
- Prepare treatment rooms by sterilizing instruments and ensuring all necessary supplies are ready for procedures.
- Take and develop dental radiographs (X-rays), ensuring proper technique and patient safety in compliance with infection control standards.
- Manage patient records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic, maintaining accuracy and confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations.
- Perform vital signs assessments and medical imaging to support comprehensive patient evaluations.
- Support front desk operations by acting as a dental receptionist when needed, scheduling appointments, and managing patient flow efficiently.
- Maintain aseptic techniques and adhere to infection control protocols to ensure a safe clinical environment for patients and staff.
- Educate patients on dental terminology, procedures, and post-treatment care to promote understanding and compliance.
- Support the use of advanced technology such as 3D scanners for accurate diagnostics and treatment planning.
- Assist with medical documentation and coding for insurance claims and medical records management related to dental procedures.
Experience
- Previous experience working in a dental clinic setting is required, with demonstrated proficiency in chairside assisting and dental assisting techniques.
- Familiarity with EMR systems such as Dentrix, Eaglesoft, or Epic is essential for managing electronic health records efficiently.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and infection control standards is mandatory to ensure compliance and patient safety.
- Experience with pediatric dentistry is highly desirable to effectively support young patients’ needs.
- Ability to perform X-ray procedures accurately while maintaining safety protocols.
- Strong understanding of dental terminology, anatomy knowledge, medical terminology, and medical coding practices related to dental care.
- Competency in using digital imaging tools like 3D scanners for comprehensive diagnostics.
