Registered Dental Assistant (RDA) - Orthodontic Assistant

Job Overview

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Registered Dental Assistant to join our orthodontic private practice. The ideal candidate will play a crucial role in providing high-quality patient care and ensuring the smooth operation of our orthodontic office. This position requires a strong understanding of orthodontic procedures, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work effectively in a team environment. This is a part-time position, two to three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Assist the orthodontist during examinations and treatment procedures, ensuring patient comfort and safety.
• Prepare and sterilize instruments and equipment in compliance with infection control protocols.
• Take and develop X-rays as needed, adhering to safety standards.
• Take photographs to aid the Orthodontist in developing treatment plans and to document patient progress.
• Take impressions for the fabrication of retainers and diagnostic study models.
• Remove and replace wires, coil springs, and elastic bands.
• Assist the Orthodontist with placement and removal of orthodontic appliances.
• Educate patients on oral hygiene practices and post-treatment care.
• Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations to protect patient confidentiality.

Requirements

• Registered Dental Assistant (RDA).
• Previous experience as an Orthodontic Dental Assistant is preferred, but not mandatory for entry-level candidates willing to learn.
• Knowledge of HIPAA regulations, infection control practices, and medical terminology is essential.
• Familiarity with orthodontic terminology and procedures is highly desirable.
• Ability to perform basic dental assisting tasks such as taking impressions and preparing materials for procedures.
• Strong organizational skills.
• Excellent interpersonal skills to communicate effectively with patients and team members.
• Certification in radiology (X-Ray).

Pay: $20.00 - $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 14.0 – 21.0 per week
