Responsibilities

• Perform thorough dental cleanings, including scaling and polishing to remove plaque and tartar buildup.
• Conduct patient assessments by reviewing medical histories, vital signs, and current medications to ensure safe treatment plans.
• Educate patients on proper oral hygiene techniques, including brushing, flossing, and dietary advice for optimal dental health.
• Assist the dentist during procedures using four-handed dentistry techniques to improve efficiency and comfort.
• Take and interpret medical imaging such as X-rays while adhering to infection control protocols and aseptic techniques.
• Maintain accurate and detailed medical records using EMR (Electronic Medical Records) systems like Eaglesoft or Dentrix, ensuring HIPAA compliance at all times.
• Review documentation for accuracy, update patient charts, and assist with medical coding for billing purposes.

Qualifications

• Valid state licensure as a Registered Dental Hygienist with current credentials.
• Proven experience in general dentistry and pediatric dentistry environments preferred.
• Proficiency with dental software such as Eaglesoft or Dentrix is highly desirable.
• Strong knowledge of dental terminology, anatomy, infection control practices, and medical terminology.
• Ability to perform chairside assisting duties efficiently while maintaining high standards of patient care.
• Familiarity with pediatric dentistry procedures and working with children is a plus.
