We are actively looking for Registered Nurses and Licensed Practical Nurses to join our dermatology team.
Provides compassionate, culturally sensitive, holistic nursing care to patients in a clinical setting, supporting the Mercyhealth nursing mission, practice values and strategic plan. May include variable shifts, weekends, holiday and/or on-call hours. Performs other duties as assigned including floating to various units based on identified needs and clinical competency.
Responsibilities:
RN Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Utilizes the nursing process and critical thinking in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members in caring for patients.
- Performs assessments, planning, intervention and evaluation of care
- Administers prescribed medications and treatments in accordance with approved nursing techniques, policies and procedures, standards of care, and state laws/practice act as required by care setting.
- Ensures all documentation is accurate and comprehensive in accordance with the established standards of care for documentation at the system and entity levels.
- Develops initiates and executes a patient plan of care according to the patient's individualized needs, as prescribed by the physician and/or hospital policy. Utilizes resources available to teach and support patient and family education. Provides education to the appropriate level of understanding.
- Participates in department or unit performance improvement activities, which may include shared governance.
- Utilizes clinical expertise & guidance to other units/departments in support of the patient's longitudinal plan of care. Acts to resolve systems breakdowns and engages self and others in providing solutions
- Utilizes critical thinking in regards to patient safety and patient experience, manages complex situations and delegates to other staff appropriately. Escalates to the appropriate chain of command as needed.
- Positively influences the professional and organizational environments and shared governance.
- Engages in personal development and supports system-entity opportunities for continuous learning and growth including developing or revising evidence based practice guidelines.
- Supports and participates in peer review and peer feedback opportunities.
- Participates in the professional nursing continuum
- Clinic and Ambulatory RN's will maintain timely flow of patients, in addition to responding to telephone calls and performs telephone triage of patients.
RN Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
ADN required upon hire, BSN preferred.
May require specific years of applicable experience to qualify (per department guidelines)
RN Certification and Licensure
Approved CPR/BLS certification required within 90 days
Other certification(s) per unit requirements. For example : ACLS, PALS, PEARS, and NRP
LPN Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Rooms patients, collects assessment data and prepares patient according to specific need.

Collects patient data and documents in the medical record.

Prepares and maintains patient charts.

Assists in examination, treatment and other clinic procedures.

Administers injections and medications as ordered and directed.

Reviews physician's orders, lab requests, or follow-up needs with patient.

Assists with laboratory procedures, screening tests and QI projects

Answers telephone and either responds to inquiry or directs caller to appropriate personnel for triage

Documents according to standards of care.

Provides patient treatments as ordered.

Coordinates referrals for patients through insurance and other physician offices

Observes patients and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment to the provider orRN.

Perform the duties of a clinic LPN within alignment to LPN scope of practice.

Assist with clinic projects and assignments and nursing initiatives.
-
May provide feedback for evaluation or participate in peer review.

Assists with preparation of staff for surveys.

Monitors compliance with clinic initiatives as assigned

Administers specified medications and nursing interventions as allowed by policy and procedure, licensure, and State Practice Act.

Reinforces patient teaching provided by Provider and RN.
-
Provides basic healthcare instruction to family and patient.

Performs EKG's and simple lab tests as needed.

Performs venipuncture to collect blood specimens.

Participates in QA & I.

Orders and maintains supplies
LPN Education and Experience
Graduate of an accredited LPN Program OR
Wisconsin: Have completed the portion of the RN Program needed to obtain a certificate of completion in practical nursing.
Illinois: Have completed the designated curriculum of a Ladder Option Approved Designated RN Program.
Experience in a clinical setting preferred.
LPN Certification and Licensure
Licensed as an LPN in the State of Practice
Approved CPR or BLS certification within 90 days
