Registered Nurse, Per Diem Days, 7:30a-3:30p, Pre Procedure Evaluation Center, Morristown Medical Center

Job Description

Completes all nursing documentation needed and provides education and

pre-operative instructions to patients who are scheduled for a procedure or

surgery at MMC.

  • Obtains a pre-operative nursing assessment (in-person/telephone) in


a systematic manner that ensures collection of all pertinent data and

enters it into the electronic record.

  • Reports and communicates all/any abnormalities/triggers to the


appropriate staff/departments such as surgeons' offices,

anesthesiologists or other providers.

  • Uses resources to appropriately clarify complex assessment findings.
  • Follows anesthesia and surgeons' guidelines regarding NPO status


and medication instructions when discussing with patients how to

prepare for surgery.

  • Individualizes pre-operative instructions according to the type of


anesthesia and procedure to meet the needs of each patient.

  • Involves family members as needed and has a clear voice in


advocating for patients.

  • Assumes responsibility of Charge Nurse on a rotational basis and acts


a resource and role model.

  • Consistently identifies practice or patient related problems and


reports them to the manager.

Required

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS certification.


Preferred

  • Bachelor’s degree in nursing.
  • All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date.
  • Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
  • 1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area.
  • ACLS certification.
