Job Description
Completes all nursing documentation needed and provides education and
pre-operative instructions to patients who are scheduled for a procedure or
surgery at MMC.

Obtains a pre-operative nursing assessment (in-person/telephone) in
a systematic manner that ensures collection of all pertinent data and
enters it into the electronic record.

Reports and communicates all/any abnormalities/triggers to the
appropriate staff/departments such as surgeons' offices,
anesthesiologists or other providers.

Uses resources to appropriately clarify complex assessment findings.

Follows anesthesia and surgeons' guidelines regarding NPO status
and medication instructions when discussing with patients how to
prepare for surgery.

Individualizes pre-operative instructions according to the type of
anesthesia and procedure to meet the needs of each patient.

Involves family members as needed and has a clear voice in
advocating for patients.

Assumes responsibility of Charge Nurse on a rotational basis and acts
a resource and role model.

Consistently identifies practice or patient related problems and
reports them to the manager.
Required
QUALIFICATIONS

Graduate of an accredited Nursing Program.

Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse.

BLS certification.
Preferred
-
Bachelor’s degree in nursing.

All ASN must complete their BSN studies within five years of their start date.

Master’s degree in nursing or related field.
-
1+ year of experience in Nursing or relevant area.
-
ACLS certification.
