Registered Nurse Practitioner - Urology

Position Summary:

The Registered Nurse Practitioner will maintain a cohesive working relationship with the collaborating physician and will focus on working in tandem with the physician to provide patient care in the office and hospital. Performs job duties and responsibilities as required.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Collaborating with physicians and other health care professionals as needed. Particularly urology.
• Counseling and educating patients on conditions and treatment options.
• Obtaining medical histories and conducting physical examination.
• Ordering, performing and interpreting diagnostic studies (e.g. lab, x-rays, pathology) with the supervision of the collaborating physician.
• Prescribing medications.
• Foley catheter placement/changes.
• Suture removal.
• Surgical assist as needed.
• Perform prostate biopsy.
• Perform other office procedure(s) as indicated by the collaborating physician.
• Must be able to type and work on a computer, in an EMR system.
• Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and safe manner.
• Performs other duties as requested by supervisor, administrator or physicians.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Desire to work in the urologic setting
• Ability to work closely in a team setting
• Hospital work and call schedule may be required
• Inquisitive manner and ability to adapt
• Must possess the ability to learn quickly and absorb a great deal of information
• Ability to use office equipment, computer

Education and/or Experience:

• Registered Nurse Practitioner licensed to work in the State of Arizona
• ACLS/BLS certification
• Experience in the Urology field recommended but not required
