Registered Nurse (RN) IV - Acute Stroke

SUMMARY

The R.N. IV maintains quality patient care through consistent standards of nursing practice in collaboration with the multidisciplinary team. Utilizes the nursing process: assess, diagnose, plan, implement, and evaluate to deliver appropriate individualized patient care. Responsible for orientation, training, precepting, and mentoring other personnel in the unit. Provides education to the staff and connects Rochester Regional Health to the nursing profession through research, publications, and presentations. The R.N. is key in creating an exceptional experience for patients and their families.

Acute Stroke Unit

The Acute Stroke Unit (7800) collaborates with a multi-disciplinary team to provide a delivery care model based on evidence-based practice to facilitate and optimize stroke care during the primary prevention and acute care phases of a stroke.

STATUS: RN IV - Full-time

LOCATION: Rochester General Hospital (RGH)

DEPARTMENT: Acute Stroke (7800)

SCHEDULE: Day/Evening/Night - Every other Weekend/Holiday

Sign-On Bonus: $15,000

ATTRIBUTES

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing required.

  • Minimum of 6 months experience as a registered nurse.

  • Registered Nurse license in New York State.

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Assessment. Perform initial and ongoing assessment of the patient; demonstrate exceptional clinical judgment and advanced assessment skills; communicate and document assessment with interdisciplinary team; utilize all available resources in order to meet the needs of the patient and family

  • Planning & Implementation. Develop and document plan of care, treatment and services; collaborate interdisciplinary health team to deliver care; maintains an appropriate nurse-patient relationship and provides an exceptional experience for the patient and family

  • Evaluation & Education. Evaluate, communicate and document patient responses to care; revise plan of care based on ongoing evaluations; ensure the patient receives and understands education/training specific to their needs and abilities

  • Training. Provide training for new team members on the unit; assume role of teacher for nursing students and other students shadowing on the unit; act as a resource for other team members for both clinical and non-clinical matters

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
