Reinsurance Accountant

Advcon Center is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Reinsurance Accountant to join our finance team in Doha. This role is responsible for managing and accounting for reinsurance transactions, ensuring accurate reporting, compliance with contractual terms, and alignment with international accounting standards. The ideal candidate brings strong technical accounting expertise and a solid understanding of insurance and reinsurance operations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Record, reconcile, and monitor reinsurance premiums, claims, commissions, and recoveries
• Ensure accurate accounting of proportional and non-proportional reinsurance treaties
• Review reinsurance contracts and ensure proper financial treatment in accordance with IFRS standards
• Prepare periodic reinsurance accounts, statements, and financial reports
• Reconcile balances with reinsurers and resolve discrepancies in a timely manner
• Support month-end and year-end closing activities related to reinsurance accounting
• Assist in claims recovery tracking and cash flow monitoring from reinsurers
• Collaborate with underwriting, actuarial, and finance teams to ensure accurate data flow
• Support internal and external audits with complete reinsurance documentation
• Monitor reinsurance exposures and support financial risk reporting

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Insurance, or related field
• Proven experience in reinsurance accounting or insurance finance roles
• Strong understanding of reinsurance structures, treaties, and financial reporting
• Knowledge of IFRS and insurance accounting standards
• Excellent analytical and reconciliation skills
• High attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting/insurance systems
• Strong communication and coordination skills

Preferred Skills:

• Experience in insurance or reinsurance companies
• Familiarity with actuarial data and insurance risk reporting
• Knowledge of ERP or insurance accounting platforms
• Ability to manage complex financial datasets and deadlines
