Role Description:

The Release Engineer is responsible for managing and executing the SAP software release lifecycle, ensuring smooth, reliable, and timely delivery of SAP applications and updates. This role involves close collaboration with development, QA, operations, and business teams to coordinate release activities, automate build and deployment processes, and maintain compliance with SAP standards and best practices.


Key Responsibilities

  • Plan, coordinate, and execute SAP software releases, including creating release packages, schedules, and calendars.

  • Create and maintain comprehensive release documentation, including release notes, technical documentation, and help files.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure release requirements are met and resolve issues that arise during the release process.

  • Monitor and troubleshoot SAP system performance and resolve deployment issues in various environments (development, QA, production).

  • Ensure compliance with SAP and organizational standards for security, quality, and regulatory requirements.

  • Lead release readiness reviews and Go-Live activities for SAP projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in SAP release engineering, build management, or related roles.

  • Strong knowledge of SAP systems, including SAP ECC, S/4HANA.

  • Experience with CI/CD tools and configuration management tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet).

  • Familiarity with SAP change management processes, transport management, and release management methodologies.

  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.

Preferred Skills

  • Knowledge on Basis Technologies, Active Control tools is a plus.

  • Experience with SAP cloud platforms and DevOps practices.

  • Knowledge of scripting languages (e.g., Shell, Python) and automation frameworks.

  • Understanding of SAP Risk and compliance requirements.
