REPAIR SUPERINTENDENT

JOB SUMMARY

Direct and lead all repair operations for the branch. This position exercises discretion and independent judgement with respect to matters of significance.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Direct the planning, forecasting, and execution for the repair department.
  • Support and provide assistance with inspections as needed. Collaborate with the Service department.
  • Lead the development and deployment of practices focused on quality and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure that the branch’s daily repair operations run efficiently and cost effectively, including reviewing and performing repair survey requests, ensuring repair booked status, scheduling repairs, completing requisitions for materials, and reviewing manpower needs.
  • Foster a culture of safety by administering company safety program and training, including performing safety audits when necessary and stressing the importance of safety to all employees.
  • Participate in weekly repair backlog meetings to update schedules and system data.
  • Supervise repair mechanics and apprentices and perform job site audits.
  • Use system reports to monitor repair job status, efficiencies, and completion. Review repair billable and non-billable reports on a weekly basis.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the overall market area, including sales backlog, service and repair volume and market penetration.
  • Maintain strong familiarity of company products by attending company training classes and reviewing factory equipment updates and supplier goods. Maintain a strong understanding of Fujitec, and its regional and company mission and objectives, ethical standards, and code of conduct.
  • Assist the sales reps with proposing and selling repair jobs to customers, including attending field surveys and customer meetings.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of all federal, state, and local elevator industry code requirements.
  • Complete job / field audits on billable and non-billable repairs.
  • Oversee all repair operations, billable and non-billable, to ensure job quality, customer satisfaction, and margin requirements are met.
  • Efficiently scheduling labor resources and managing performance to estimates.
  • Manage an operating budget to ensure the branch repair budget is met.
  • Responsible for ensuring our monthly repair plans are met, both revenue and margin.
  • Ensure weekly payroll is accurate and implement changes when needed.
  • Assist accounts receivable with information regarding the collection of problem accounts.
  • Survey new and existing jobs with the sales reps to identify potential sales opportunities.
  • Use and understand internal tracking system, dashboards or any other computer systems required to perform assigned tasks.
  • Execute corporate directives for headcount management as compared to backlog volume and GM dollars.

6 – Repair Mechanics

This role manages subordinate supervisor(s) who supervise employee(s) and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination and evaluation of these units. The individual also directly supervises nonsupervisory employees and carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; and addressing complaints and resolving problems. All hiring, coaching, performance management and terminations are to be in coordination with HR support and approval.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Education: Bachelor’s in construction, business, or related
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years in related
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory Motor Vehicle Report.
  • Local travel Expectations: 50%

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Job duties are performed mainly within an established office environment under normal lighting and climate-controlled tolerances. The noise level in the work environment is usually low to moderate.
  • When the employee has cause to visit a work site, job duties may be performed in machine rooms, hoistways, or on/around escalators and the employee may be regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places and outdoor weather conditions. The noise in the work environment is often loud, and proper PPE is to be used.
  • Requires a consistent physical presence at the branch office to oversee shared services functions and employees, normally achieved by working standard business hours. Certain positions will require a flexibility of working hours to meet the demands of the job and the direction of the manager.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of standing and walking.
  • Requires lifting, positioning, pushing, and/or pulling.

  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at times.

PAY TRANSPARENCY INFORMATION

The 2025 base pay scale for this position and career level is bolded below:

Level I: $59,337 to $83,656

Level II: $70,212 to $102,352

Level III: $82,232 to $121,907

This base pay range represents the anticipated low and high range of wages for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as candidate's location, qualifications, skills, competencies, and proficiency for the role.

In addition to base pay, full-time employees are eligible for insurance (medical, dental, vision, life, short-term disability, and long-term disability) and a 401(k) plan, all subject to the terms and conditions of those plans, which may change from time to time. Employees are also eligible for certain paid-time off benefits pursuant to our policies (which may change from time to time) and applicable laws.
