The Chamber is seeking a highly motivated Research Analyst to conduct research and data analysis that informs the Chamber and region’s economic and workforce development strategies and tactics, narrative of comparative advantages and business impact for visibility and marketing, advocacy agenda, and tracking regional performance. This position will report directly to the Chamber’s Economist.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Gather, update, and improve upon the economic and demographic data used by Chamber in presentations, reports, marketing collateral and websites. Ensures that all data visualizations and reports are kept up to date with the latest data.

Coordinate and contribute to research projects being conducted by contracted consultants and partnering organizations.

Prepare responses to requests from staff, members and investors, partners, the media, and the public for demographic, workforce and economic data.

Conduct thorough and accurate research in analyzing issues related to The Chamber’s core missions, including data analysis, report writing and presentations.

Serve on internal cross-function teams to develop and interpret data that supports the Team’s goals.

Assist in survey design, collection of data and analysis and synthesis of responses

Track significant economic development events and projects in the Greater Philadelphia Region, including news articles and materials about the region and industries that have been identified as target industries for marketing outreach.

Utilize data products and databases and continually evaluate alternatives for cost efficiency and data quality.

Contribute to requests for information and proposals by compiling packages of data to support business attraction and expansion projects.

Develop mastery of internal databases and research-related interfaces (Lightcast, Gazelle, GIS Webtech, Survey Monkey, CoStar, DealForma)

Develop mastery of external databases, research-related interfaces and frequently used reports (Census Bureau, Bureau of Labor Statistics, Integrated Postsecondary Education Data System, Bureau of Economic Analysis, International Trade Administration, Philadelphia Federal Reserve, etc.)
Job Specifications & Requirements

A minimum of three years working in a quantitative data analysis career in economics, political science, urban and regional planning or a related field. Student and/or internship experience will be considered.

Knowledge of public and private sources of research, data and information.

Strong quantitative skills and ability to accurately transcribe, process and analyze quantitative information.

Ability to translate complex quantitative information and concepts into clear written and oral explanations for non-technical users.

Demonstrated organizational skills.

A track record of producing quality research products.

Clear success managing multiple projects and deadlines in a team environment.

Experience working in a fast-paced environment where continually concise, accurate and defensible answers to complex economic questions must be quickly prepared.

Strong PC skills and knowledge of database management systems and Microsoft Word, Excel and Power Point.

Experience with GIS software a plus

Work Conditions
The Chamber operates in a hybrid work environment that allows for a flexible schedule while requiring employees to work in-person at least two days per week. Exceptions to this schedule may be made based on departmental needs. When on-site, work is performed in a professional, deadline-driven office setting. However, at times, this role will be required to attend Chamber events or related outside meetings/events on behalf of the Chamber. These meetings/events may take place outside of regular business hours and outside of center city Philadelphia.
Compensation
Base salary of $55,000–$62,000 with eligibility for performance-based bonus.
