Case Western Reserve University is committed to providing a transparent estimate of the salary range available for this position at the time of its posting. The salary range is between $57,200 and $72,358, depending on qualifications, experience, department budgets, and industry data.

POSITION OBJECTIVE
The Research and Engagement Services Librarian plays a pivotal role in advancing research, teaching, and learning within a vibrant and innovative Social Sciences community, with a primary focus on Business Management, Finance, Entrepreneurship, and related disciplines. The Librarian will work independently and collaboratively with library colleagues and campus partners to contribute to academic success and advance strategic initiatives through a balanced portfolio of key activities: research support, client engagement, instruction, and collection management. The Kelvin Smith Library is deeply committed to promoting a culture of empathy, collaboration, and respect where all people are welcome, heard, empowered, and valued. This role is ideal for a librarian who is excited to leverage emerging technologies, is familiar with scholarly communication and data services, and can be a conduit for interdisciplinary collaboration.

CONTACTS
Department: Regular contact with the Head of Research and Engagement Services to ensure excellent service. Moderate contact with staff at all levels of the organization to provide library services, including discipline-specific collaboration with Social Sciences and STEM Research and Engagement Librarians. Occasional contact with managers and staff of other units in the library as required by projects.
University: Frequent consultation with faculty and staff, including assigned liaison faculty, campus committees, and other department administrators to support research and teaching. Consult occasionally with other campus libraries to coordinate and provide library services.
External: Participate in local, regional, and national professional organizations. Occasional contact with vendors to support resource selections in assigned subject areas.
Students: Frequent communication with students to provide assistance and information resources to support their education and research needs.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITY
This position has no direct supervisory responsibilities but may supervise nonexempt staff and/or student employees.
QUALIFICATIONS
Librarian level: Appointment to the level of Librarian 2 assumes that all requirements of the level will be met and sustained, that the individual will demonstrate continued and outstanding growth in the profession, and perform existing duties and responsibilities at the highest level. Librarian levels are outlined in the librarian handbook.
Education: (Core for librarian positions) A Master's degree in Library/Information Science or an advanced degree in a related discipline plus 1 year of relevant library experience.
Experience: 1 to 3 years of related work experience may be required or preferred
REQUIRED SKILLS
WORKING CONDITIONS
General office/library environment. This position is hybrid-eligible in accordance with CWRU¿s hybrid program and the needs of the library.
This position is eligible for hybrid work arrangement up to two remote days per week at the discretion of the department. New employees may begin a hybrid schedule upon approval from the supervisor, successful completion of an orientation period and signing the remote work checklist certification form.
