Job Description


The Trauma Project in the Department of Psychiatry at UT Health San Antonio is seeking highly motivated and organized individuals to join our research team. The Trauma Project is an NIH-funded research study of the neural mechanisms of psychotherapy for posttraumatic stress in children and adolescents. Our team is using MRI scans to track improvements in brain function and structure throughout trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy. The qualified candidate will be involved in many aspects of the study, including enrolling participants in the study, conducting interviews, helping with web-based data collection, and assisting with MRI scans. Previous experience working in a clinical setting or with MRI data collection is highly valued.

Under limited supervision, responsible for the operation of a specialized educational/social science research area with one or more faculty members or managers within a recognized unit. Assists with research project tasks to include recruitment, data collection, and the day to day operations of research projects. May act as liaison with other departments, divisions and organizations.


Responsibilities


1. Plans, organizes and conducts one or more small or moderately complex research projects according to plan; reviews progress and evaluates results.

2. Participates in ongoing decisions regarding study design, data collection, and methodology.

3. Serves as research study subject recruiter, interviewer, screener and evaluator of candidates for studies.

4. Formulates research methods and suggests options for improving quality, identifies potential problems, and recommends and implements solutions.

5. Consults with users to refine or adapt methodologies to fit research requirements; collaborates in development of new techniques and instruments.

6. Prepares reports in response to inquiries from performance sites or regulatory organizations under supervision of the investigator.

7. Maintains project documentation for study sites including contact lists, correspondence, reporting documentation, and compliance data according to standardized procedures.

8. Performs all other duties as assigned.


Qualifications


  • Demonstrated ability to organize and coordinate work within schedule constraints and handle emergent requirements in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrated ability to monitor important and complex projects concurrently.
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and other email software.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing, to include writing and preparing memorandums, letters, and other official correspondence.

EDUCATION:
Bachelor's Degree in an educational/social science or related field is required.


Required Skills
Two (2) years of related experience is required.
