Advancing New Standards in Reproductive Health (ANSIRH) is seeking a research assistant (RA) to recruit patients to participate in a study. The RA will approach patients in an abortion clinic waiting room Monday – Friday for approximately 12 weeks between April – August 2026. The RA will approach abortion patients and ask if they are interested in participating in the 20-minute study about reproductive health. The RA will explain study participation and answer any questions about informed consent; track participants on a recruitment log; conduct short, structured interviews with participants; and enter clinical data into a database.

ANSIRH is a collaborative research group at the University of California San Francisco (UCSF) and a program of the Bixby Center for Global Reproductive Health committed to building and supporting a diverse and inclusive workplace. ANSIRH conducts innovative, rigorous, multidisciplinary research on complex issues related to people’s sexual and reproductive lives and envisions a world in which all people have the resources, support, and freedom to achieve reproductive well-being.

Duties include:

• Approaching patients in the clinic waiting room
• Explaining the study to participants and answering their questions
• Maintaining a detailed study log
• Conducting a short verbal assessment and interview with participants
• Providing support as participants complete self-guided surveys on an iPad
• Entering clinical data into a REDCap database for each participant at the end of the day

Preferred qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in any field, or relevant education and experience
• Comfort with interacting with patients in an abortion clinic waiting room
• Comfort working in an environment in which abortion is discussed regularly
• Basic research skills, including experience obtaining informed consent and tracking study participants and study IDs
• Fluency in English and Spanish
