The Trauma and Stress Studies Center (TaSSC) at Texas A&M University is seeking a motivated, detail‑oriented
Research Assistant
to support innovative research in trauma‑ and stress‑related studies. This role offers a unique opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the lab’s success through participant recruitment, data collection and management, and support of ongoing research initiatives. The ideal candidate will bring a strong foundation in research and lab operations, helping ensure efficient day‑to‑day functioning while actively contributing to high‑impact research outcomes. This position is well suited for individuals seeking comprehensive, hands‑on experience in a collaborative and dynamic research environment.
Opportunities to Contribute

Manages day‑to‑day lab operations, including purchasing supplies and equipment, coordinating schedules and meetings, maintaining equipment functionality, and actively participating in lab research meetings.

Prepares and submits IRB applications, amendments, and continuing reviews in compliance with institutional and regulatory requirements.

Supports research activities through literature reviews, survey development, presentation preparation, and collaboration with team members to meet project goals and timelines.

Develops and manages data collection, organization, storage, entry, cleaning, and preliminary analysis processes while maintaining accurate records and collaborating with research staff to ensure high‑quality data.

Recruits and screens research participants, conducts eligibility assessments, and ensures compliance with study inclusion criteria.

Coordinates participant scheduling, maintains accurate interaction records, and assists with research sessions by preparing materials, setting up equipment, and ensuring smooth session execution.
Qualifications
-
Bachelor's degree in Psychology or related field.
A well-qualified candidate for this position will also possess:
-
Master's degree in psychology, social work, neuroscience, or related field.

1+ years of experience in clinical-research focused roles, including participant recruitment, data management, or research coordination.

One year of full-time or part-time research experience involving traumatic stress, substance abuse, suicidality, or another closely related clinical condition.

Experience with trauma-focused populations: demonstrated experience working with trauma-exposed individuals or populations affected by stress-related disorders.

Experience using RedCAP (or related software) for data entry, management, and reporting.

Proficiency in statistical software for data management and analysis.

Experience preparing, submitting, and maintaining IRB applications and regulatory documentation.

Experience conducting clinical and diagnostic interviews.

Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.

Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to positively and professionally interact with participants, colleagues, and team members.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail, particularly in managing data, scheduling, and documentation processes.

Skilled in utilizing office software and research-related programs for data entry, management, and analysis.

Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines in a fast-paced research environment.

Knowledge of research protocols, participant screening, and data management best practices.

Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team and contribute to a positive lab environment.

Ability to independently troubleshoot issues related to research sessions, lab equipment, and data integrity.
Salary:
Compensation will be commensurate based on the selected candidate's education and experience.
