Position Summary
Under guidance from the Principal Investigator and Research Program Manager, the Research Technician will provide administrative and logistical support for federally awarded projects and activities for NIH-funded grants in the Department of Neurology (PI: Priya Palta). The Research Technician will work with multi-disciplinary team to assist with multiple projects investigating vascular contributions to age-related changes in cognitive and physical function, subclinical cerebrovascular disease, and dementia conducted in several large cardiovascular epidemiology cohorts, including, the Atherosclerosis Risk in Communities Study, the Jackson Heart Study, and the Multi-Ethnic Study of Atherosclerosis. The candidate will gain research experience in cardiovascular epidemiology and neuroepidemiology with the opportunity to enhance skills in data collection, data entry, data analysis, and overall conduct of epidemiologic studies from the initial grant submission to scientific output.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Assist with administrative tasks related to developing research protocols, updating and developing standard operating procedures, and maintaining and revising study operations manuals and study forms.
  • Assist with grant and manuscript submissions including formatting, bibliography, requests for letters of support, table or figure creation and/or formatting.
  • Participate in study meetings and maintain meeting minutes.
  • Contribute to development of lab website.
  • Conduct data entry.
  • Assist with IRB submissions and renewals.
  • Conduct literature reviews and basic data analyses in STATA or related statistical software.
  • Collaborate on scientific manuscripts and reports.
  • Work closely with Dr. Palta’s Research Program Manager to manage all aspects of funded projects.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Demonstrated possession of the competencies necessary to perform the work.

  • Strong time management skills to assess all assigned work in order to manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines
  • Highly organized with attention to detail
