Duties And Responsibilities

Position Summary

The Research Assistant I supports laboratory research activities by performing routine experimental procedures and assisting with data collection and analysis. This role involves working with functional and ELISA assays, preparing reagents and solutions, operating basic laboratory instrumentation, and documenting experimental results. The position is ideal for individuals seeking to build foundational laboratory and data analysis skills.

Key Responsibilities

  • Perform functional assays and ELISA assays in accordance with established laboratory protocols
  • Prepare reagents and solutions, including accurate weighing and measurement of materials
  • Operate basic laboratory instrumentation to conduct coagulation and related tests
  • Accurately record experimental data and maintain organized laboratory records
  • Analyze results and prepare written summaries/reports of findings
  • Communicate any experimental issues, inconsistencies, or deviations to the supervisor in a timely manner
  • Assist in maintaining laboratory organization, cleanliness, and compliance with safety standards
  • Utilize Microsoft Excel to generate graphs, perform basic statistical analysis, and support data interpretation
  • Participate in training and skill development related to laboratory techniques and data analysis
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Education And/or Work Experience

Education

  • Required: Bachelors Degree OR equivalent training acquired via work experience or education
  • Preferred: Bachelors Degree

Experience

  • Required: None
  • Preferred: 1-2 years of previous job-related experience

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in a scientific field (e.g., Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or related discipline)
  • Basic understanding of laboratory techniques and scientific principles
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to follow detailed instructions and maintain accurate records
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous research experience obtained through undergraduate coursework or laboratory settings (helpful but not required)
  • Experience with ELISA or functional assays
  • Familiarity with coagulation testing or related laboratory instrumentation
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, for data tracking, graphing, and basic statistical analysis
