Research Coordinator

Required Qualifications:

  • BA/BS in psychology or related field, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 4+ years.
  • Prior coursework or work experience in the area of clinical psychology/psychopathology.
  • Prior coursework or work experience in the area of neuroimaging.
  • Prior research experience in an academic research setting that included interaction with research participants.
  • Proficient with Excel and R programming.
  • Ability to work onsite at the Center for Magnetic Resonance Research (CMRR) and Elliott Hall.


Preferred Qualifications:

  • It is strongly preferred that the candidate’s prior research experience was with ambulatory assessment data collection.
  • Good social skills; ability to build rapport with participants.
  • Prior supervisory experience.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of University of Minnesota IT systems.
  • Knowledge of University of Minnesota IRB requirements and Ethos system.

The Elliott and Ringwald Labs are seeking to hire an advanced research coordinator (8351SM, Research Professional 1 - Social Sciences Multi-Discipline) to support various research activities in both labs. In the Elliott Lab, responsibilities will involve coordinating several studies related to cognitive and brain aging. In the Ringwald lab, responsibilities will involve coordinating several studies related to digital phenotyping of psychopathology. You will be closely involved in launching a new ambulatory assessment study piloting an application to track patterns of behavior related to stress via smartphone sensors, and several ongoing projects using artificial intelligence to detect psychopathology from natural language. You will also assist with ongoing, multisite secondary analyses of existing data and a systematic review project.

This position will primarily be in-person, with some flexibility for limited hybrid.

Elliott Lab (50%) and Ringwald Lab (50%) Responsibilities:

Participant Recruitment and Scheduling (10%)

  • Responsible for overseeing all participant recruitment.
  • Maintain a secure recruitment database that includes private information. Help ensure compliance, access, and security in accordance with applicable policies and procedures.
  • Contact participants for recruitment; screen study participants using detailed phone scripts.
  • Schedule participants’ research study sessions, including coordination among several team members.


Data Collection (20%)

  • Train participants on the ambulatory and neuroimaging assessment protocols.
  • Monitor adherence to ambulatory and neuroimaging assessment protocols.
  • Contact participants to assist with technical issues.


Data Documentation and Management (20%)

  • Review data to assure quality and accuracy; conduct routine quality control checks.
  • Ensure data files are accurately labeled and stored in their proper locations on the lab’s dedicated server to facilitate access and analysis.
  • Create spreadsheets through which data can be entered and/or integrated.
  • Develop and implement data entry protocols and procedures.
  • Supervise data entry by undergraduate research assistants.
  • Responsible for accurate documentation of study visits, including recording of completion dates, completion checklists, and documentation of any deviations from protocol that occurred; also includes documentation of participant payments.


Undergraduate Research Assistant Supervision (20%)

  • Hire, onboard, train, and manage the performance of undergraduate research assistants.
  • Ensure adherence to data collection protocols.
  • Oversee literature review protocol.


Lab Operations (20%)

  • Create and maintain documentation systems for existing datasets.
  • Monitoring lab computer systems to ensure continued full operation.
  • Printing lab documents, as needed.
  • Attend weekly lab meetings and meet weekly with project directors.


Data analysis and programming (10%)

  • Transcribe text data.
  • Basic analysis of text and smartphone sensor data.
