Research Coordinator II - Neurology (Biobank)

UTHealth Houston’s Neurology Department is hiring for a Research Coordinator II to join their team of professionals. The RC II will be responsible for enrolling patients at the biobank, processing blood, scheduling patients, follow ups appointments. and more.

Position Key Accountabilities:

Provides day‑to‑day coordination and project management for multiple research projects, including oversight of personnel, facilities, supplies, budgets, and timelines to support successful outcomes. Assists with the preparation and submission of grant proposals, progress reports, and applications to private foundations, governmental agencies, and internal committees, working closely with the Office of Sponsored Projects. Participates in research planning meetings, prepares draft budgets for leadership review, initiates re‑budgeting requests, and authorizes expenditures as needed across projects.

Maintains accurate, confidential records of patient and programmatic data, ensuring data integrity and compliance. Prepares draft reports and communications for departmental leadership and serves as a liaison with state, federal, and private agencies regarding proposals and funded projects. Provides administrative direction and guidance to departmental staff, may review contracts and develop training, ensures required staff training is completed, and performs other duties as assigned in support of departmental and research objectives.

This position is funded by grants that comprise 50% or more of the funding. Continued employment in this position is contingent upon the availability of funding for this position. Your employment may end upon the cancellation or discontinuation of the project, program, or funding.

Position Summary:

Assists with the day-to-day administrative project management and may provide scientific direction for research projects of considerable scope and complexity.

Certification/Skills:

Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
Working knowledge of MS Office.

Minimum Education:

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or relevant experience in lieu of education.

Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.
