Research Coordinator, Paediatrics & Child Health -MC - (260001JB)
Introduction:
The Outreach and Research Programme of the Department of Paediatrics and Child Health has ten community-based field sites across Pakistan including four in Karachi and focuses on research for betterment of women and child health. The Department has a Nutritional Research Laboratory as well as an Infectious Disease Research Laboratory that cater to the needs of its research projects. It has well-acclaimed work to its credit both at the national and international level.

Responsibilities:
You will be responsible to supervise and monitor the research activities, including data collection as well as maintain necessary records, create and sustain liaison with the relevant stakeholders for the smooth implementation of all necessary activities of the project. Specific responsibilities include to:

working with the Principal Investigator or research supervisor to establish and achieve the aims and objectives of research projects

developing and running sequence analysis pipelines for next‑generation sequencing data, including human and pathogen datasets
-
curating and maintaining software tools, reference datasets, and bioinformatics pipelines for research use
-
preparing written documentation for algorithms, validations, QC, SOPs, and pipeline updates
-
contributing to manuscript writing and the development of research outputs
-
supporting faculty members in planning, managing, and conducting research by recommending appropriate analytical methods
-
presenting results of bioinformatics analyses and software testing internally and externally
-
conducting literature reviews, testing, and validation of new data analysis tools
-
preparing and presenting weekly project activity reports
-
performing any other task assigned by the supervisor.
Requirements:
You should have:

MS in Bioinformatics, Computational Biology, Computer Science, or equivalent in a related field

one to two years of relevant experience
-
sensitivity to cultural differences and ability to work in diverse environments

strong time management and task prioritization skills

ability to work effectively as part of a team
-
strong communication and interpersonal skills

resilience and ability to work under pressure

strong organisational skills with ability to manage long‑term and day‑to‑day tasks

ability for critical thinking and independent learning

knowledge and experience using scientific tools, technologies, and online resources.
