Job Summary

Summary<br>Will conduct independent and collaborative research, contributing to the advancement of knowledge and the development of innovative solutions. The fellow will work under the supervision of the Principal Investigator and collaborate with a team of researchers.<br><br>Does this position require Patient Care?<br>No<br><br>Essential Functions<br>-Design, plan, and execute research experiments or projects in alignment with departmental goals. <br>
  • Gather, analyze, and interpret data using appropriate statistical methods and tools. <br>
  • Conduct comprehensive literature reviews to inform research direction and methodologies. <br>
  • Prepare and publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at conferences and seminars. <br>
  • Work collaboratively with faculty, students, and other researchers, contributing to a positive research environment. <br>
  • Mentor graduate and undergraduate students, providing guidance on research methodologies and techniques. <br>
  • Assist in the preparation of grant proposals and funding applications to support ongoing research. <br>
  • Prepare periodic reports and documents summarizing research progress and outcomes. <br>

  • Demonstrated experience in research techniques, methods, or research areas relevant to the project.
  • Proficient analytical skills, proficiency in statistical software, and excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills.

POSITION SUMMARY:

Proposes and undertakes a mentored, innovative project or challenge to develop novel molecular therapies for retinal degenerative diseases. Designs and performs in vitro and animal experiments, analyzes and presents the outcome.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Read, analyze and summarize published literature
  • Design and execute in vitro and in vivo
  • Undertake relevant coursework if required by mentor.
  • Attend relevant meetings
  • Meet regularly with mentor to review project progress and milestones
  • Plan and deliver a seminar on the project
  • Take administrative (inventory, purchasing, etc. ) responsibilities in the lab when necessary
  • Write a final report or submit a manuscript to a peer-reviewed journal describing the project and results

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

Doctoral degree (MD or PhD) with more than 1 year of lab experience.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Lab setting.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

Possible lifting of 10 to 20 lbs., depending on nature of chosen project(s).
