Research Support Specialist
Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor’s degree (foreign equivalent or higher) in biology, biochemistry, or a related science field. Research activity experience. Experience in operating equipment, carrying out test procedures and using special methods for data collection and interpretation. Experience working with Vascular Quality Initiative (VQI) database.
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in a biology laboratory environment with laboratory equipment. Experience with biology techniques. Experience with working in a wet lab. Experience with rodent models. Experience with literature review/manuscript/grant writing. Experience with computers and data management (Excel, SPSS). Experience with statistical analysis. Familiarity with management of a mouse colony.
Brief Description of Duties:
Within defined test or analytical protocols, operate equipment, carry out test procedures, as well as collate and interpret data using special methods in support of a research project or program for Dr. Tassiopoulos in the Department of Surgery. The successful incumbent will have excellent interpersonal skills, exercising strong organizational and time-management skills with an exceptional attention to detail. Essential for this role is the adeptness to work independently as well as part of a team with a collaborative approach to problem solving.
Duties:
Provide experimental support for PI, conduct experiments as directed.
Analyze data.
Prepare microscopy.
Provide general laboratory support including ordering supplies and maintaining accurate laboratory records.
Other duties as assigned.
