The College of Medicine-Tucson, Department of Psychiatry, is leading the effort to understand, diagnose, treat, and prevent psychiatric disorders, prepare future clinicians, provide state-of-the-art care, and give direction to community efforts to improve behavioral health. We are looking to hire Research Technician I positions that will conduct and support human subjects research by setting up and conducting study tasks in the lab during sleep deprivation studies. The candidates will adhere to study protocol procedures, administer techniques tailored to specific experiment requirements, and assist with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment, instruments, and apparatuses. **Overnight and weekend shifts will be required for this position. **

Duties & Responsibilities
  • Collect computerized behavioral data from research participants during overnight sleep deprivation study runs.
  • Apply scalp electrodes for polysomnography/EEG studies. Monitor polysomnography and EEG signals during sleep.
  • Maintain highly detailed records, organize data, prepare data for computer input, and record computer output.
  • Assist with the operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of equipment, instruments, and apparatuses.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or high school diploma equivalency is required.

Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous work experience in a lab.
