A Research Technician position supported by a new R01 funding is available for a motivated, enthusiastic and organized candidate to join Wu lab between now and summer 2026 in the Division of Rheumatology and Immunobiology at the Ohio State University to work on the roles of gut commensal bacteria in the development of autoimmune disease. The Wu lab has a strong focus on both systemic and mucosal immunology. We aim to understand the immunomodulation and immunometabolic role of human pathobionts or mouse commensals in the development of systemic autoimmune diseases by using murine models and human patient samples from rheumatoid arthritis and lupus patients.
The candidate will be expected to work independently on a research project, working and training directly with the principal investigator as well as working closely with other collaborators. The candidate will gain valuable experience in a wide range of cutting-edge experimental techniques, including but not limited to those described in a recently published paper from the Wu lab (Fan et al, Nat Immunol, 26:790-804, 2025).
This position is particularly well-suited for candidates planning to pursue graduate or medical training, as the technician will receive close mentorship, develop independent scientific thinking, and gain strong support for future career applications. The candidate will obtain hands-on experience with advanced immunological and multi-omics approaches in a highly collaborative and intellectually stimulating research environment. The Wu lab has a strong track record of publications and of supporting trainees in achieving their academic and professional goals.”
Duties and Responsibilities:
· Conduct experiments using various tests, and analyses, where procedures are clearly defined and results readily determined.
· Maintain detailed records of studies conducted, organize data, and prepare data for computer input and record computer output.
· Compile data and generate computerized statistical data for analytical purposes using software packages; make preliminary analyses and assist researchers in interpreting the data.

· Additional duties may be assigned as it relates to this position.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:
· Prior experience handling mice is not required; however, the technician must be comfortable working with mice, as this position will primarily involve transgenic mouse models.
· Experience with Python programming or completion of relevant coursework is a plus.
Minimal Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in the area of molecular biology, immunology or bioinformatics; OR, Two years research experience appropriate to the area of assignment; OR, Any equivalent combination of experience, training and/or education.
