Resident Engineer

Job Purpose

Lead and manage all site supervision activities for assigned projects, ensuring construction works are executed in full compliance with approved drawings, specifications, quality standards, and contractual requirements. Act as the Engineer’s representative on-site, overseeing contractor performance and coordinating between the client, design team, and project stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Site Supervision & Leadership: Direct and manage the site supervision team, including Site Engineers and Inspectors, ensuring effective monitoring of construction activities and compliance with approved documents.
  • Project Execution & Monitoring: Oversee daily site operations, monitor contractor progress against the approved program, and ensure timely resolution of technical and coordination issues.
  • Contract Administration: Administer the construction contract in accordance with project conditions, including review of variations, claims, extensions of time, and contractor submissions.
  • Quality Assurance / Quality Control: Ensure all works are executed in compliance with project specifications, approved materials, QA/QC procedures, and relevant authority regulations.
  • Review & Approvals: Review and approve shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and as-built drawings in coordination with the design office and relevant stakeholders.
  • Health, Safety & Compliance: Ensure implementation of HSE standards on site, monitor contractor safety practices, and coordinate with HSE teams to maintain a safe working environment.
  • Stakeholder Coordination: Act as the main point of contact on-site between client, contractor, authorities, and internal teams to ensure alignment and smooth project delivery.
  • Reporting & Documentation: Prepare and review progress reports, technical reports, meeting minutes, and maintain accurate project records and documentation flow.
  • Risk & Issue Management: Identify project risks, technical challenges, and potential delays, and implement mitigation measures in coordination with the project team.

Required Qualifications

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s in Civil / Structural Engineering
  • Certifications: PMP (preferred) or equivalent; professional engineering accreditation is an advantage
  • Experience: 12–18 years in construction supervision, including 5–8 years in a Resident Engineer role on large-scale projects
  • Technical Skills: Strong knowledge of construction methodologies, contract administration (FIDIC), QA/QC procedures, and authority approval processes
  • Soft Skills: Leadership, decision-making, problem-solving, communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership
  • Languages: English (required); Arabic (advantage)
