A doctor specialized in Internal Medicine is trained to diagnose, treat and manage patients who come into the Emergency suffering with diseases and conditions for which they need to be admitted into the hospital.

Responsibilities:
Adult cardiology deals with the evaluation and management of disorders of the cardiovascular system. These include coronary artery disease, valvular heart disease, heart failure, adult congenital heart disease, myocardial /pericardial diseases, arrhythmias, pulmonary and systemic hypertension and preventive cardiology.
You will be responsible to:
- Participate in the diagnosis and management of cardiology inpatients, including supervising, instructing, and directing house staff in patient care.
- Devote approximately 20–30 hours per week to inpatient rounds, managing a caseload of 15–20 patients representing a wide spectrum of cardiac conditions, including pre-rounding with residents in the Coronary Care Unit (CCU), step-down units, and general wards.
- Serve as the first responder for most cardiology consultations, conducting comprehensive patient assessments, including history-taking, review of prior medical records, physical examination, and analysis of relevant investigations, followed by formulation and documentation of detailed assessments and management recommendations, to be presented to the attending physician.
- Attend one weekly afternoon outpatient cardiology clinic under faculty supervision.
- Perform in-house on-call duties as per the cardiology rotation schedule.
- Independently perform invasive procedures, including central venous line insertion with bedside hemodynamic monitoring and temporary pacemaker insertion.
- Diagnose common cardiac conditions and initiate appropriate initial management.
- Manage pre-operative and post-operative cardiac and hemodynamic complications in both cardiac and non-cardiac surgical patients.
- Document patient histories accurately in confidential medical records and promptly inform the concerned faculty of all new admissions.
- Perform comprehensive physical examinations and provide medical care to patients admitted to the general wards.
- Closely monitor patients’ clinical progress and communicate updates effectively to the concerned physicians.
- Independently manage routine as well as complex acute and chronic adult cardiac conditions in accordance with established clinical guidelines.
