Residential Sales Consultant – Window Coverings

Position Overview

Great Lakes Window Coverings is seeking a motivated, customer-focused Residential Sales Consultant to join our growing team. This role is responsible for guiding homeowners through the selection and purchase of premium Hunter Douglas blinds, shades, and shutters through an in-home consultative sales process.

The ideal candidate combines strong relationship-building skills with design awareness and a passion for delivering exceptional customer experiences. This position offers the opportunity to work with industry-leading products while helping clients enhance the comfort, functionality, and beauty of their homes.

Key Responsibilities Sales & Client Consultation

  • Conduct in-home consultations with residential clients to assess needs, style preferences, and functional requirements
  • Present Hunter Douglas product solutions including blinds, shades, shutters, and motorization options
  • Measure windows accurately and recommend appropriate products and configurations
  • Prepare and present proposals and pricing in a timely and professional manner
  • Close sales while maintaining a consultative, customer-first approach

Client Experience

  • Deliver a high-touch, personalized buying experience from initial consultation through installation
  • Build trust and long-term relationships with homeowners and referral partners
  • Maintain consistent communication throughout the project lifecycle
  • Ensure customer satisfaction and proactively resolve concerns

Business Development

  • Generate new opportunities through referrals, networking, and community engagement
  • Develop relationships with builders, interior designers, and real estate professionals
  • Participate in local events and marketing initiatives as needed

Project Coordination

  • Collaborate with internal operations and installation teams to ensure accurate order processing
  • Verify measurements, product specifications, and installation readiness
  • Support smooth project execution from order placement through completion

Qualifications

  • Previous sales experience required (in-home sales, design, or home improvement preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Self-motivated with the ability to manage schedule and territory independently
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Comfort working in a commission-based or performance-driven environment
  • Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation

Preferred Experience

  • Window coverings, interior design, or home furnishings sales
  • Hunter Douglas product familiarity (training provided)
  • Residential construction or remodeling knowledge
  • Consultative or solution-based selling experience

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $63,402.89 - $100,000.00 per year
