Respiratory Care Assistant II

Position Summary

The RCA II will work only under direct supervision of a NC licensed RCP. Under the Clinical Supervision of the Medical Director of Respiratory Care and the overall supervision of the Manager of Respiratory Care and Respiratory Care Supervisor the Respiratory Care Assistant II (RCA II) provides safe, expedient, cost-effective Respiratory Care services. As a member of a team of health care professionals, an RCA II evaluates, treats and manages patients of all ages with respiratory illnesses and other cardiopulmonary disorders in a wide variety of clinical settings. Respiratory Care Assistant II behave in a manner consistent with the standards and ethics of all healthcare professionals. In addition to performing respiratory care procedures, RCA's are required to document in the patient medical record factual, accurate, complete, timely, legible and legal information about the care they provide to each patient.

Minimum Requirements

  • Over 1 year active student in a CoARC accredited Respiratory Care program
  • American Heart Association BLS Certification
  • Active licensure with the North Carolina Respiratory Care Board upon hire
  • American Heart Association Advanced Life Support Certification (ACLS), if not current at time of hire, must complete within first 12 months of employment and maintained.

Pay Range

  • Pay Range begins at $27.22

ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital is a 114-bed community hospital located in Ahoskie. Serving four nearby counties, the 15-bed emergency department sees approximately 18,000 patients per year. ECU Health Roanoke-Chowan Hospital provides a wide range of health services, including medical, surgical and radiation oncology. In addition, the Wound Healing and Pain Management clinics serve as referral centers for neighboring ECU Health hospitals and providers.
